Job description
The Marketing Research Manager at Emirates leads the Corporate and Customer Research Team to deliver strategic insights by analysing customer attitudes and behaviours through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and advanced data analysis. The role manages research analysts and budgets, ensuring high-quality actionable insights and recommendations for business units. Responsibilities include end-to-end research project management, managing external suppliers and consultants, developing annual research activity plans with budgets, implementing quality control standards aligned to industry bodies such as Market Research Society (MRS) and ESOMAR, driving research automation and IT solutions, monitoring brand tracking studies, overseeing advertising effectiveness measurement, managing the internal Emirates Hub research community, maintaining research databases on SharePoint, supporting agency selection and performance evaluation, liaising with airline bodies and industry organisations such as IATA, and driving the development and implementation of the latest research methodologies. The position ensures compliance with Emirates Group policies and local data protection laws, aligns research initiatives with corporate objectives, and fosters continuous staff development.

Key responsibilities
- Manage the research needs for designated business units, identifying and developing projects to support end users based on clear objectives
- Brief and manage external suppliers and research consultants, summarising and distributing results to senior management
- Develop an annual research activity plan with budget provisions and ensure efficient allocation of resources
- Challenge business units to ensure research remains business-critical and aligned to objectives
- Plan, control, and monitor research budgets and produce expenditure updates and reconciliations
- Manage, coach, and develop direct reports, including interim and year-end reviews, staff issue resolution, and training
- Establish and maintain up-to-date quality control standards and procedures aligned to MRS and ESOMAR, conduct random and planned quality inspections
- Manage internal and external quality control systems and processes to monitor suppliers, fieldwork, data entry, code frames, translations, and coding
- Drive automation processes for continuous research projects and recommend enhancements with budgets
- Research, evaluate, and implement new technological solutions and transform business requirements into IT specifications and documentation
- Influence senior management to ensure buy-in for new developments
- Manage implementation of Emirates Group policies regarding web-based surveys and internal data, ensuring compliance with local data protection laws
- Monitor Emirates Group brands through brand tracking studies and facilitate advertising effectiveness measurement
- Manage the Emirates Hub research community, providing reports and newsletters with strategic insights
- Maintain and develop research and agency databases on SharePoint, provide content for the Insights section on EmPower
- Support agency selection and performance appraisal, feeding back on research capabilities to optimise agency relationships
- Develop and maintain research links with airline bodies and external consultants, represent Emirates in industry forums (MRS, ESOMAR, IATA)
- Drive the development and implementation of the latest research methodologies across the Group
Experience & skills
- Holds a Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in Business/Technology discipline
- Has 8+ years experience in Commercial, Sales and/or Research Analysis, preferably in airline or travel-related industry
- Experience managing staff and suppliers in market research
- Proficient in Market Research techniques, SPSS, Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
- Solid understanding of online product development, industry best practices, and website usability
- Strong project management skills and knowledge of technical solutions for research projects
- Keen interest in adopting and implementing new research methodologies for continuous improvement
