Job description
BDO UAE is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Associate or Assistant Manager â Assurance (Banking Specialist) to join its dynamic team. The role focuses on leading external audits for clients in the financial services sector, particularly banks and finance companies. The successful candidate will manage the audit engagement from planning to final reporting, ensure compliance with IFRS standards (with emphasis on IFRS 9 and 15), and deliver high-quality documentation and client service. Strong project management, technical expertise, and client relationship skills are essential to this role, along with a proactive approach to evolving client needs and regulatory changes.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Lead and perform external audits for banks and finance companies in accordance with BDO methodology
- Review financial statements and ensure compliance with IFRS, especially IFRS 9 and IFRS 15
- Manage audit engagements from planning through completion, ensuring timely delivery
- Engage with clients throughout the audit process and deliver audit outputs efficiently
- Identify and resolve audit and accounting issues, and communicate findings with the audit team and clients
- Prepare reports and present findings to Audit Committees, Boards, and other stakeholders
- Understand clientâs commercial needs and propose value-added audit and advisory solutions
- Stay updated on changes in IFRS and audit standards and communicate these proactively to clients
- Ensure strong documentation and quality control for all audit workpapers and deliverables
- Support the firmâs culture of relationship-focused service delivery and professional development
Experience & skills
- CA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification
- 3â5 years of audit experience with banks or finance companies
- Experience with Indian banks or finance firms is a plus
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, especially IFRS 9 and IFRS 15
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Familiarity with audit documentation and methodology (preferably Big 6)
- Ability to manage audit projects independently and deliver within deadlines
- Experience presenting to audit committees or senior stakeholders
- High level of attention to detail and ability to handle complex financial reporting issues
- Commitment to ongoing learning and development, and responsiveness to regulatory updates
