Job description
The Business Development Director – Kuwait Market role is responsible for executing business strategies, objectives, targets, and plans for the Kuwait market while being based in Dubai with a planned future relocation to Kuwait. The position oversees the Business Development function for a portfolio of key and large clients, with the objective of achieving business targets across core solutions, value added services, commercial solutions, and money movement solutions. Reporting to the Country Manager for Kuwait, the role focuses on expanding existing business operations, identifying new market opportunities, increasing revenue and market share, and positioning Visa as a market leader. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams including Product Marketing, Merchant Sales & Acquiring, Client Services, Innovation, Legal, Risk, and Support. Responsibilities include developing customized account strategies, leading account and relationship management plans, reviewing the competitive and partnership landscape, supporting proposal development and negotiations, and engaging with senior-level international and central bankers, regulators, merchants, media, domestic switches, and third-party vendors. The role operates in a hybrid working model, with in-office expectations determined by the hiring manager, and demands strong expertise in Visa systems, payment platforms, card products, and financial services ecosystems.

Key responsibilities
- Support country management in developing and prioritizing the Kuwait market strategic plan based on market intelligence, client business plans, Visa priorities, and competitor activities
- Develop and execute customized account strategies and sales plans to increase revenue and market share across assigned key and large client accounts
- Lead account and relationship management activities to ensure alignment with clients’ business objectives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to recommend, develop, and implement innovative approaches to grow client business
- Continuously review market landscape to identify partnership opportunities and solution offerings that strengthen market leadership
- Align and work closely with Product Marketing, Merchant Sales & Acquiring, Client Services, Innovation, Legal, Risk, and Support teams
- Support the development, negotiation, and signing of commercial proposals in coordination with internal stakeholders and strategic partners
- Engage with senior-level international and central bankers, regulators, merchants, media, domestic switches, and third-party vendors to advance business objectives
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business or an equivalent qualification
- Possess 10 or more years of experience in sales, retail banking, cards, or financial services with expertise in portfolio development and relationship management
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of Visa, payment systems, and card products
- Exhibit proven experience in negotiating business agreements and influencing senior-level stakeholders
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Be fluent in English
