Job description
KYC, compliance, customer service and risk monitoring at ADCB increasingly run with help from intelligent automation, and this Senior Manager in AI Engineering within Group Business Services in Abu Dhabi leads the platforms that make it work. Conversational AI and enterprise knowledge solutions sit alongside agent workflows, orchestration frameworks and human-in-the-loop controls that need continuous monitoring. Reusable frameworks connect these AI solutions to digital and mobile channels securely and at scale. Generative AI, LLMs and embedding models are deployed, monitored and scaled through standard practices, with guidance on prompt engineering, fine-tuning and evaluation. MLOps covers automated retraining, drift management and guardrails for fairness, security, explainability and compliance. Cloud pipelines run on Azure and AWS, using serverless and cloud-native approaches, Docker and CI/CD. Emerging tools such as LangChain, CrewAI, Pinecone, Azure OpenAI and Bedrock are evaluated for enterprise fit, and platform KPIs guide ongoing improvement. A team of engineers reports to you. Expect to bring at least 7 years leading AI/ML engineering or large-scale digital product engineering, ideally including a digital-only bank or major digital transformation, and the role is offered on a 3-year fixed-term contract.

Key responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of AI platforms and experiences, including Conversational AI and enterprise knowledge solutions
- Provide technical oversight to keep implementations consistent
- Build reusable frameworks for integrating AI into digital and mobile channels securely and at scale
- Design intelligent automation solutions for KYC, compliance, customer service and risk monitoring
- Ensure orchestration frameworks, agent workflows and human-in-the-loop controls are implemented and monitored continuously
- Oversee the engineering and operationalisation of Generative AI, LLMs and embedding models with standard deployment, monitoring and scaling practices
- Guide prompt engineering, fine-tuning and evaluation methods for reliable, responsible model performance
- Implement MLOps best practices, including automated retraining, monitoring and drift management
- Enforce guardrails for fairness, security, explainability and compliance
- Review platform KPIs to drive continuous improvement
- Steer cloud-based AI and ML pipelines on Azure and AWS with consistent architecture and secure data handling
- Deploy foundation models and AI services using serverless and cloud-native approaches
- Apply Generative AI design patterns and modular code development
- Automate deployments through Docker containerisation and CI/CD pipelines
- Evaluate emerging tools such as LangChain, CrewAI, Pinecone, Azure OpenAI and Bedrock for enterprise use
- Improve platform reliability, scalability and performance on an ongoing basis
- Supervise the team so targets and objectives are delivered
- Motivate the team to contribute to change initiatives and projects
- Uphold the ADCB Service Standards in all internal and external interactions
Experience & skills
- Bring at least 7 years leading AI/ML engineering, platform development or large-scale digital product engineering
- Prove experience deploying AI/ML solutions at enterprise scale, preferably in banking or financial services
- Show a hands-on track record building Conversational AI, deploying agents and scaling Generative AI and ML platforms
- Hold a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field
- Possess a Master's degree in AI/ML (preferred)
- Know deep learning, LLMs, multimodal models, RAG, vector databases and agentic systems
- Apply NLP/NLU, recommendation engine and personalization techniques
- Program in Python and work with SQL/NoSQL, GraphQL, REST and FastAPI
- Use Azure and AWS along with Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD
- Work with data platforms and BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI or Superset
- Prototype rapidly while maintaining enterprise-grade scalability and security
- Engage stakeholders through strong communication
- Contribute actively to AI communities and open-source projects
- Offer experience implementing a digital-only bank or major digital transformation (preferred)
