Job description
The Senior Manager / Director – IFRS Advisory Specialist provides technical IFRS consultation within Financial Accounting Advisory Services, focusing on highly technical accounting challenges across MENA. The role centers on pre-transaction accounting advice while contractual and commercial terms are being finalized, requiring deep IFRS expertise and the ability to structure upcoming transactions within IFRS boundaries. The position leads a team of IFRS technical accounting advisory specialists, guiding clients through complex, high-profile projects, and shaping optimal transaction structures through collaboration with lawyers, commercial teams, and transaction execution specialists. Key domain areas include IFRS research, technical interpretation, accounting structuring, emerging issue analysis, and advising prestigious clients on critical IFRS implications. The role requires managing competing priorities, coaching advisory teams, ensuring world-class client handling, delivering consistent high-quality accounting advice, and liaising with global EY subject matter experts to maintain uniform technical standards. Responsibilities also include training next-generation IFRS specialists, evaluating accounting treatments, contributing to technical frameworks, driving results, and operating with integrity within a professional environment.

- Manage competing priorities and resources to deliver high-quality advice
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to stakeholders
- Research emerging IFRS issues and analyze new accounting standards and industry practices
Experience & skills
- Possess at least 8 years of IFRS accounting advisory experience, including 3+ years at Senior Manager level within a Big 4 firm
- Hold a current or previous IFRS technical desk role for at least one year or equivalent demonstration of strong IFRS expertise
- Hold a CA, CPA, or ACCA certification
- Demonstrate strong verbal communication, presentation, and writing skills
- Show ability to research accounting topics and analyze emerging IFRS issues
- Possess excellent managerial and organizational skills
- Demonstrate dedication to teamwork and leadership
- Uphold integrity within a professional environment
- Show confidence working with lawyers, commercial teams, and transaction execution specialists to shape pre-transaction frameworks
