Job description
The Network Planning Analyst role at Gulf Air supports airline network planning and commercial strategy activities with a focus on optimizing hub structures, maximizing fleet utilization, strengthening route presence, and enhancing Origin and Destination market performance. The role contributes to the preparation and continuous refinement of the airlineās Network Plan through comprehensive data analysis of existing routes, market trends, load factors, yields, connectivity, and competitive developments. Responsibilities include developing analytical procedures to support timely, data-driven decisions, coordinating with internal departments and external stakeholders to respond to changes in demand and routing, and aligning route planning with aircraft availability and suitability. The analyst evaluates network performance by tracking KPIs related to route economics, load factors, yields, and connectivity, identifying underperforming routes, and recommending corrective actions such as frequency adjustments, aircraft changes, and schedule modifications. The role supports seasonal planning cycles for Summer and Winter schedules, prepares detailed Commercial Business Cases for new routes, frequency changes, and route cancellations using economic and financial analysis, and collaborates with Revenue Management, Sales, and Marketing teams to align network decisions with commercial objectives. Additional responsibilities include supporting alliance and codeshare strategies through connectivity analysis, evaluating and planning charter flight requests based on commercial viability and fleet availability, coordinating charter execution across Commercial, Flight Operations, and Ground Handling teams, and conducting post-flight performance evaluations. The role requires advanced analytical capability, proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, programming in SAS and/or Python, knowledge of SQL, and participation in automation and process improvement initiatives within the network planning function.

- Support the preparation and continuous refinement of Gulf Airās Network Plan through analytical evaluation of routes, markets, and demand.
- Conduct detailed studies and data analysis of existing routes, market trends, load factors, yields, and competitive developments to propose profitability improvement measures.
- Develop and enhance analytical procedures and models to support timely, data-driven network planning decisions.
- Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders to respond proactively to changes in demand, routing, and operational constraints.
- Contribute to fleet deployment strategies by aligning route planning with aircraft availability, suitability, and utilization objectives.
- Analyze current network performance, track KPIs, and recommend adjustments to improve profitability and fleet utilization.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance performance monitoring tools, dashboards, and regular management reports.
- Evaluate seasonal variations and support Summer and Winter schedule planning cycles.
- Identify underperforming routes and recommend corrective actions including frequency changes, aircraft swaps, and schedule modifications.
- Prepare comprehensive Commercial Business Cases to support new route development, frequency adjustments, or route cancellations.
- Conduct economic and financial analysis to support senior management decision-making.
- Collaborate with Revenue Management, Sales, and Marketing teams to align network planning with commercial strategy.
- Support alliance and codeshare strategies through network connectivity and performance analysis.
- Evaluate charter flight requests based on commercial viability, fleet availability, and network impact.
- Coordinate charter operations planning with Commercial, Flight Operations, and Ground Handling teams to ensure efficient execution.
- Prepare charter performance reports and post-flight evaluations to assess profitability and operational impact.
- Analyze large datasets to generate insights supporting business decisions and strategic planning.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations using Microsoft Office tools.
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelorās degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related analytical discipline.
- Demonstrate a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience within the network planning or network department of an international airline.
- Exhibit strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel including formulas, pivot tables, charts, and advanced analytical functions.
- Possess solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Demonstrate programming capability in SAS and/or Python with knowledge of SQL considered an advantage.
- Show strong numerical reasoning and analytical problem-solving capability with exposure to forecasting and planning methodologies.
