Job description
Bulk shipping freight is the market this Senior Charterer works in, negotiating and executing the contracts that move product to customers across different geographies. Freight requirements arrive from the Sales and Planning teams, and meeting them means working closely with shipowners, shipbrokers and an external client base. Growth and profitability of the chartering activity are developed in close coordination with the Assistant Manager, Shipping and Operations. Commercial stakeholders look to you for well-judged options and opinions that weigh risk against opportunity. Counterparties often expect considerable support in a non-standard environment, so standardisation and efficiency have to be introduced gradually. Decisions sometimes need to be made fast and on limited information. Candidates need at least 8 years of relevant experience, including 5 in chartering with a leading IOC, NOC or reputable shipping company, with chartering experience at Muntajat, QatarEnergy, QPSPP or QG considered favourably. A bachelor's degree in economics, law or business administration is required, and an MSc or MBA is preferred.
