Job description
The Compliance Officer for the Exchange Bureau (DDF EB) in the UAE is responsible for ensuring that all business activities comply with the bureau's internal policies, regulatory requirements, and international AML/CFT standards. The role involves designing and implementing comprehensive AML/CFT programs, establishing robust policies, procedures, and controls, and monitoring day-to-day business operations to ensure adherence. The officer will act as the main liaison with regulators, including the Central Bank, and handle all AML/CFT-related inquiries. Key responsibilities include analyzing suspicious transaction alerts, submitting STRs to the FIU, providing required regulatory information, and ensuring all necessary documentation and records are maintained in compliance with local laws. The officer will also develop and execute AML/CFT training programs, provide regular reports to executive management, and maintain the highest standards of operational and regulatory compliance across the organization.

Key responsibilities
- Design and implement AML/CFT compliance programs aligned with UAE laws and international best practices (FATF, OFAC, MENAFATF)
- Establish, maintain, and update AML/CFT policies, procedures, processes, and controls
- Monitor day-to-day compliance of business activities with internal policies and procedures
- Serve as primary contact for AML/CFT queries from the Central Bank and other authorities
- Analyze suspicious transaction alerts and submit timely Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) to the FIU
- Provide all required information to the FIU for their obligations
- Develop and conduct AML/CFT training programs for staff, covering ML/FT risks and mitigation measures
- Prepare and submit reports to executive management on AML/CFT matters at least quarterly
- Retain all necessary supporting documentation for transactions, KYC, monitoring, STRs, and training per record retention requirements
- Submit bi-annual compliance reports
- Maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive organizational information
- Exercise judgement and systemic thinking in assessing compliance risks and operational decisions
- Support development and mentoring of team members in compliance best practices
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in any discipline
- Certification in AML/CFT compliance (e.g., ACAMS, CFE, CFCS)
- Minimum 8 years of experience in financial institutions or exchange houses, preferably in AML/CFT compliance roles
- Comprehensive knowledge of UAE AML/CFT regulations and international best practices
- Strong analytical, monitoring, and decision-making skills
- High proficiency in MS Office, Oracle, and internal systems
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and reporting skills
- Ability to develop, deliver, and evaluate training programs
- Strong judgment, reliability, and adherence to confidentiality standards
