Job description
Every surface Salla builds, from storefronts and search to recommendations and landing pages, reads from the same product data, and this Senior Product Manager, Catalog role exists because when that data is thin or wrong, nothing built on top of it can fix it. Merchants create the catalog themselves, often through a freelancer or an outsourced agency rather than the merchant directly, so the real challenge is changing what someone produces at the moment they produce it rather than cleaning it up afterward. You will own the catalog strategy end to end, sequencing it into quarters and holding it accountable to the numbers it promised. The Catalog Engine and Category Setup, Product Data Input, Structure and Meaning, AI Enrichment, and Downstream Fitness make up the five areas this role drives impact across. Taxonomy, attributes, variants, identifiers, normalization, and duplicates all fall inside the structure and meaning work, while AI gets put to work only where it earns trust, with a stated confidence policy covering what gets generated outright, what gets suggested for approval, and what never gets touched. A new category needs to become a configuration change rather than an engineering project, with the difference in effort between the first category and the next clearly demonstrable. Two to three product managers report into this role, with real ownership given, framing and craft coached, and a reliable cadence run across the group. This position works as one system with search and discovery, storefronts, vendors, marketplace, and data teams, based on site in Jeddah.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Own the catalog strategy end to end, sequencing it into quarters and holding it accountable to promised numbers
- Set the roadmap for how product data gets created and improved, prioritized on downstream performance rather than field completion
- Design for the people who actually do the work, making the good path the fastest path rather than one enforced by rules
- Turn a new category into a configuration change rather than an engineering project, demonstrating the reduced effort each time
- Deploy AI where it earns trust, deciding what gets generated outright, suggested for approval, or never touched, backed by a stated confidence policy
- Define what catalog quality means at Salla and instrument it honestly against the surfaces that consume the data
- Manage how product data performs in external selling channels, where requirements are strict and rejections are visible
- Determine how much structure to impose and where merchants stay free, defending that line against pressure from both directions
- Lead two to three product managers, giving them real ownership, coaching their framing and craft, and running a reliable cadence
- Coordinate as one system with the teams that depend on this data, including search and discovery, storefronts, vendors, marketplace, and data
Experience & skills
- Bring six or more years in product management, including work on a self-serve platform where users created their own content or data
- Show a metric you owned and moved, such as completeness, accuracy, time to publish, tool adoption, or downstream data performance
- Provide evidence that you changed what users produced at the moment of production rather than cleaning it up afterward in a pipeline
- Demonstrate platform judgment, having built something once and made it serve many cases through configuration
- Carry experience running AI in production for structured data, including extraction, classification, generation, or matching
- Hold literacy in how product data is structured, covering taxonomies, attribute schemas, variants, identifiers, and matching and deduplication
- Coach product managers, formally or informally, and be ready to lead a small team without stepping away from the craft
- Own outcomes rather than roadmaps, moving quickly through ambiguity and building clarity where others see noise
- Communicate with full professional fluency in Arabic and English
- Relocate to Saudi Arabia and work on-site, with merchant context in the region preferred over theoretical knowledge
