Job description
The Lead Electrical Engineer at Egis in Dubai is responsible for technical engineering, design, and documentation support within complex infrastructure and construction projects. This role involves assisting in the preparation of the Technical Document Register (TDR), reviewing specifications, data sheets, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, review philosophies, Area Classification Drawings, and other relevant technical documents. The position includes preparing design bases, single line diagrams, equipment and cable sizing calculations, short circuit, load flow, voltage dips, and transient stability studies using ETAP software. The Lead Electrical Engineer performs design calculations for earthing, lightning protection, lighting, relay settings, and related electrical systems. The role also involves guiding designers in preparing equipment and material specifications, administering detailed engineering calculations, and preparing load lists, single line diagrams, schematic diagrams, logic diagrams, cable schedules, interconnection schedules, hazardous area classification, equipment layouts, cable routing and trench/tray drawings, lighting system layouts, earthing/lighting layouts, heat tracing layouts, installation standard drawings, and relay coordination drawings. Additionally, the role requires preparing technical inquiry requests, participating in technical evaluation of vendor bids, reviewing vendor drawings and documents, ensuring compliance with client equipment specifications and budgets, reviewing plot plans, issuing engineering drawings and technical documents for inter-discipline checks (IDCs), and coordinating integration of technical inputs across engineering disciplines.

Key responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of the Technical Document Register (TDR) and identify project requirements and scope of work
- Review specifications, data sheets, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, review philosophies, Area Classification Drawings, and other technical documents
- Prepare design bases, single line diagrams, equipment and cable sizing calculations, and perform material and equipment analysis for client approval
- Conduct short circuit, load flow, voltage dips, and transient stability studies using ETAP software and perform calculations for earthing, lightning protection, lighting, and relay settings
- Guide designers in preparing equipment and material specifications, administering detailed engineering calculations, and developing engineering drawings including load lists, single line diagrams, schematic and logic diagrams, cable schedules, interconnection schedules, hazardous area classification, equipment layouts, cable routing, cable trench/tray layouts, lighting and earthing system layouts, heat tracing layouts, installation standard drawings, and relay coordination drawings
- Prepare technical inquiry requests to vendors, participate in technical evaluation of vendor bid offers, and review vendor drawings and documents ensuring compliance with client specifications and budget
- Assist in the review of plot plans, coordinate issuance of engineering drawings and technical documents for inter-discipline checks (IDCs), and ensure integration of technical data inputs across engineering disciplines
Experience & skills
- Ability to assist in preparation and management of Technical Document Registers (TDR) and related technical documentation
- Competence in reviewing specifications, data sheets, GA drawings, review philosophies, and Area Classification Drawings
- Proficiency in preparing design bases, single line diagrams, equipment and cable sizing calculations, and performing electrical system studies using ETAP
- Knowledge of design calculations for earthing, lightning protection, lighting, and relay settings
- Experience in guiding design teams and preparing engineering drawings including load lists, schematics, logic diagrams, cable schedules, interconnection schedules, equipment layouts, hazardous area classifications, and installation drawings
- Experience preparing technical inquiry requests, conducting technical bid evaluations, and reviewing vendor submissions
- Ability to coordinate inter-discipline technical integration, issue engineering drawings and documents for review, and ensure compliance with project requirements
- Familiarity with complex infrastructure and construction projects, engineering standards, and multi-discipline coordination
