Job description
The Senior Manager, Production Planning and Control (Aircraft Maintenance) at Etihad Airways is a key leadership position reporting to the Director of Technical Operations. The role is based in Abu Dhabi and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of capacity, resource, and production planning for Line and Light Maintenance operations, ensuring alignment with CAR M, CAR 145, and EASA Part-145 regulatory standards. The position is focused on achieving operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and financial performance targets while driving strategic planning and continuous process improvement. Key responsibilities include implementing long-term capacity planning strategies, optimizing fleet availability, cost control, and leading the production planning function to enhance turnaround times and resource efficiency. The role demands expertise in lean methodologies and integration of technological solutions to improve effectiveness. The Senior Manager will lead and mentor a team of planners, schedulers, and technical staff, promoting professional development and fostering collaboration across departments. Responsibilities include overseeing technical projects, managing change initiatives, and ensuring regulatory approvals and certifications are maintained. The position requires conducting risk assessments, managing tooling and GSE requirements in coordination with the GSE/Tooling Manager, and budgeting for PPC operations. The manager must also promote a proactive safety culture using SMS and ensure a secure operational environment. Regular reporting on performance, risks, and resources to senior management and coordination with internal and external stakeholders are critical to success. Candidates must have a valid aircraft maintenance license (UAE GCAA/EASA Part 66/ICAO equivalent) or equivalent certification, with a preferred Bachelor's degree. A minimum of 10 years' experience in aircraft maintenance operations is required, including at least 5 years in a leadership role, with strong operational and project management experience in airline technical operations. Deep knowledge of EASA, GCAA, or other NAA regulations, coupled with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, is essential for this role.

- Develop and implement long-term capacity planning strategies for Line and Light Maintenance
- Collaborate with Director of Technical Operations and stakeholders to forecast resources and optimize fleet availability and cost control
- Lead the production planning function to improve turnaround times, resource utilization, and cost efficiency
- Implement lean methodologies and technological solutions to enhance operational effectiveness

- Oversee sourcing and optimization of tooling, GSE, and materials for maintenance operations
- Develop and manage the PPC budget and monitor departmental expenditures
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and promote proactive safety culture through SMS and risk assessments
- Provide updates to senior management on operational performance, risks, and resources
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely maintenance execution
Experience & skills
- Valid aircraft maintenance license (UAE GCAA/EASA Part 66/ICAO equivalent) or equivalent formal certificate in Aviation/Aircraft Maintenance, Mechanical or Electrical/Electronics
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum 10 years in aircraft maintenance operations
- At least 5 years of leadership experience
- Strong experience in production planning and aircraft maintenance
- Project management experience within airline technical operations
- Expertise in EASA, GCAA, or NAA regulations and safety standards
