Job description
The First Collection Marina Hotel is seeking an experienced Accountant ā Accounts Payable to join their dynamic finance team. Located in the iconic Dubai Marina, the role supports the hotelās operations through accurate and timely vendor payments, strict month-end procedures, and VAT compliance. The candidate will enforce controls over petty cash, manage vendor reconciliations, introduce documentation standards, and collaborate across departments to ensure cost efficiency. This role reports directly to the Financial Controller and is ideal for an independently minded professional looking to grow within a 4/5-star hospitality environment.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the accounts payable function with timely processing and payment of vendor invoices.
- Ensure full VAT compliance to mitigate any regulatory risk.
- Manage working capital and ensure deadlines for month-end closing are met with accuracy.
- Supervise and control the petty cash function.
- Perform weekly and monthly accounts payable reconciliations.
- Identify and investigate anomalies in vendor account reconciliations.
- Implement and maintain a document management system for payable records.
- Ensure payments adhere to the Delegated Authority framework.
- Accurately record costs to the correct ledger and cost centers.
- Maintain and develop supplier relationships.
- Work with Financial Controller to improve internal control systems across the procure-to-pay cycle.
- Collaborate with procurement staff, cost accountants, and department heads for effective cost control.
- Support ad hoc projects aimed at improving efficiency, reporting, and financial accuracy.
Experience & skills
- At least 2 years of experience in Accounts Payable, preferably in a 4/5-star hotel.
- Bachelorās Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Knowledge of accounting principles related to cost recognition, fixed assets, accruals, and prepayments.
- Strong attention to detail and independent thinking for process improvement.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience working with financial systems and ERP tools in the hospitality industry.
