Job description
The Senior Principal Package Management Spec is a senior specialist role responsible for solving unique and complex problems that broadly impact the business across the energy value chain. Operating within large, multi-discipline engineering and supply chain projects, the role provides expert-level package management leadership and direction, influencing program direction, resource allocation, and project execution. The position requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop creative solutions to Package Management challenges while operating within general functional policies and industry guidelines. The role holds full delivery ownership of critical, high-value engineered packages, purchase orders, and subcontracts throughout the entire project life cycle, ensuring schedule, budget, quality, and contractual compliance. The Senior Principal Package Management Spec interfaces extensively with Engineering, Supply Chain, QHSES, Project Management, Planning, Fabrication teams, Clients, and Vendors to identify and resolve bottlenecks, manage risks, and maintain delivery confidence. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate accounting of package costs, commitments, changes, and forecasts; enforcing Management of Change processes and Project Change Notices (PCNs); ensuring compliance with Prime Contract and vendor contractual obligations; and overseeing contingency planning and lessons learned. The role also includes managing multiple package managers, establishing key progress measurements, monitoring manufacturing, procurement, testing, and sub-orders, administering commercial interfaces, managing escalation processes, and ensuring all delivered products are fit for purpose and compliant with client requirements and Quality Management System standards.

Key responsibilities
- Drive Engineering, Supply Chain, QHSES, and Supplier activities to deliver assigned packages on schedule and within budget.
- Take full delivery ownership of critical, high-value engineered packages, purchase orders, and subcontracts throughout the project life cycle.
- Interface across project functions to identify, document, quantify, escalate, and manage delivery risks, bottlenecks, and delays.
- Act as the formal point of contact for all communications with assigned Package Vendors after purchase order award.
- Maintain accurate accounting of package costs, commitments, variations, changes, and forecasts.
- Enforce Management of Change processes and administer Project Change Notices (PCNs).
- Ensure correct administration of the Prime Contract, including agreement and management of variations.
- Manage vendors and suppliers to prevent schedule delays and cost overruns and implement mitigation actions where required.
- Establish key progress measurements covering engineering deliverables, long-lead procurement, manufacturing, sub-orders, and testing.
- Ensure timely handover of vendor documentation in accordance with engineering and project schedules.
- Monitor delivery risk profiles and mitigation measures with support from relevant departments.
- Oversee planning, performance, and resource allocation of Package Management team personnel.
- Manage all commercial interfaces, escalation processes, and formal correspondence related to package delivery.
- Ensure compliance with Quality Management System, HSES requirements, safety guidelines, and environmental standards.
- Liaise with project planners and fabrication teams to report progress against baseline delivery dates and advise project management of anomalies.
- Arrange and attend meetings with clients and vendors and support contingency planning and lessons learned activities.
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a relevant discipline.
- Possess 10–16 years of relevant experience in package management, supply chain management, or engineering project delivery within the energy value chain.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Package Management principles and their application to large, multi-discipline engineered project packages.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of prime contract administration and vendor contractual obligations, including management of variations and commercial interfaces.
- Demonstrate experience taking full delivery ownership of high-value purchase orders and subcontracts across the complete project life cycle.
- Demonstrate the ability to manage schedule, cost, commitments, changes, and forecasts for complex engineered packages.
- Demonstrate experience identifying, documenting, quantifying, escalating, and mitigating delivery risks associated with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and testing.
- Demonstrate experience coordinating Engineering, Supply Chain, QHSES, Planning, Fabrication, Clients, and Vendors to ensure timely package delivery.
- Demonstrate experience enforcing Management of Change processes and administering Project Change Notices (PCNs).
- Demonstrate experience establishing progress measurement systems for engineering deliverables, long-lead items, manufacturing, sub-orders, and testing.
- Demonstrate experience managing multiple package managers and overseeing the planning, performance, and resource allocation of package management teams.
- Demonstrate substantial commercial, technical, and business acumen applicable to large-scale energy projects.
- Demonstrate experience ensuring compliance with Quality Management System requirements, HSES standards, and project execution processes.
