Job description
Based in Abu Dhabi, the Project Engineer I ā Control & Instrumentation executes engineering, testing, and documentation work assignments to appropriate standards and quality systems for projects in Refining, Oil and Gas, Chemical Industry, and Power domains. Under supervision, the role produces parts of total functional design specifications and technical design specifications, ensures prerequisites (design inputs, tools, documentation) are in place prior to commencing work, and shares technical knowledge with the project team, supervisor, own discipline, and other engineering disciplines. Responsibilities include interpreting customer specifications to develop SAMA drawings for closed loop controls and Boolean logic for open loop, interacting with customer operations groups to develop face plates and operations graphics, and ensuring robust knowledge of how DCS/ESD interfaces with field instruments, control valves, and switchgear. The engineer must execute test work and documentation work to standards, report progress and technical problems, proactively identify quality and efficiency improvements, and undertake frequent customer site visits (50%ā75% of time) to perform engineering and commissioning work, including commissioning systems at site. Qualifications specify a Bachelorās Degree in Control & Instrumentation, Communications or Electrical Engineering; 0 to 2 years of engineering and project execution experience with a good DCS company; system skills and hands-on experience on any DCS/ESD; ability to develop schedules from specifications and deliver to those schedules; proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating man-hour effort from a specification; Active Directory and networking experience as a preference; and capacity to contribute to projects involving 20,000 hours of work. The position also requires domain skills in Refining, Oil and Gas, Chemical Industry or Power, effective communication, and readiness to support commissioning activities while adhering to appropriate standards and quality systems.
