Job description
Shari'a compliance across the ADIB Group runs through standards and resolutions from the Higher Shari'a Authority, regulations from the Central Bank of the UAE, and resolutions from the Bank's Internal Shari'a Supervisory Committee, and this Senior Officer - Shari'a Assessment & Testing role exists to keep the Bank aligned with all three. You support the leadership team by continuously monitoring the Bank's business activities and operations against SCD policies, procedures and methodologies, and the frameworks set by the ISCG. The SAT unit's Annual Shari'a Assessment and Testing Plan gets implemented using a risk-based methodology, supported by systems such as the Governance, Risk and Control (GRC) platform. Shari'a monitoring and assurance reviews are carried out across the Bank's business units, functions and departments. Operations and transactions get evaluated for compliance with HSA standards, CBUAE regulations and other regulating bodies. Detailed reports on review findings and results are drafted and communicated clearly to the leadership team. Action plans arising from field reviews are tracked through to implementation, and Shari'a Non-Compliance (SNC) risks and related controls are assessed in coordination with Business Units and Operational Risk Management teams. Reporting for the appropriate committees and forums gets supported alongside broader SCD functions as needed.
