Job description
The Licensed Aircraft Engineer – Base Maintenance role is responsible for delivering comprehensive base maintenance services across Airbus A380, Airbus A350, and Boeing 777 aircraft, including extensive inspections, major system repairs, cabin retrofits, aircraft deliveries, and detailed inspection programs. The role involves performing routine aircraft maintenance and defect rectification in accordance with company procedures and associated regulatory requirements, ensuring strict compliance with manufacturer instructions and safety procedures. Engineers ensure assigned aircraft and zones are maintained in line with the latest approved authority Technical Publications, including Aircraft documentation, Technical Notices, Quality Notices, and the Engineering Procedures Manual, while maintaining valid and applicable personal approvals and licences for specific aircraft types. The position requires handling off-aircraft tasks such as spares handling, robberies, and hold items in compliance with company procedures, with complete and accurate documentation to ensure transparency. Responsibilities include verifying tooling and equipment serviceability, using specialised tooling where required, applying approved troubleshooting procedures and tools in a cost-effective manner, and carrying out component changes as part of troubleshooting or supervisory direction in accordance with AMM, IPC, and other manufacturer or vendor documentation. All activities must comply with safety rules, regulations, and company procedures, with active reporting of deficiencies through approved reporting tools to support continuous quality improvement and Group safety culture. The role also encompasses maintaining excellent housekeeping standards, effective communication with managers, senior engineers, and colleagues, completing detailed reports related to service delays, incidents, and accidents, managing staff performance through formal performance review systems including SMART goal setting, and attending required training and recurrent modules to maintain compliance with CAR 145 and regulatory standards. The role is aligned with international air legislation and legal requirements governing aircraft operation and maintenance.

Key responsibilities
- Carry out routine aircraft maintenance, servicing tasks, and defect rectification in compliance with manufacturer instructions, safety procedures, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure assigned aircraft and zones comply with the latest revisions of approved authority Technical Publications including Aircraft documentation, Technical Notices, Quality Notices, and the Engineering Procedures Manual, while maintaining valid and applicable licences and approvals.
- Handle off-aircraft activities including spares handling, robberies, and hold items in accordance with company procedures, ensuring all associated paperwork is complete and transparent.
- Verify that all tooling and equipment used are serviceable, appropriate for the task, and apply specialised tooling where required to complete maintenance activities effectively.
- Perform troubleshooting and fault rectification using approved procedures and tools in a cost-effective and efficient manner, including carrying out component changes as required in accordance with AMM, IPC, and manufacturer or vendor documentation.
- Ensure full adherence to safety rules, regulations, and company procedures, report deficiencies using approved reporting tools, maintain high housekeeping standards, and actively support quality improvement and Group safety culture.
- Maintain effective communication with managers, senior engineers, and colleagues, complete detailed reports on service delays, incidents, and accidents, and identify contributing issues to support rectification through maintenance planning.
- Manage assigned staff performance through formal performance review systems, including SMART goal setting, interim and annual reviews, and development planning in accordance with company procedures.
- Attend mandatory training and recurrent modules to enhance technical competency and ensure ongoing compliance with CAR 145 requirements.
Experience & skills
- Hold Licensed Aircraft Engineer TE.03 or TE.02 certification with a Degree/Honors (12+3) in Aeronautical, Mechanical, Avionics, Electronic, or Technical Engineering, or a valid Maintenance Engineering Licence.
- Demonstrate a minimum of 10 years engineering experience with at least 5 years as certifying staff for TE.03, or a minimum of 8 years engineering experience with at least 2 years as certifying staff for TE.02.
- Possess a minimum of two aircraft type approvals, including at least one Emirates aircraft type such as Airbus A380, Airbus A350, or Boeing 777.
- Hold or be eligible for conversion of a GCAA, UK CAA, or EASA aircraft maintenance licence.
- Be fully conversant with Air Legislation and legal requirements governing the international operation and maintenance of aircraft.
