Job description
The Director, Corporate Compliance at DP World is responsible for providing proactive and effective legal and regulatory support to the Vice President & Executive General Counsel and senior management on all compliance matters across the GCC region. The role focuses on ensuring full compliance with applicable external regulations and internal group policies while building a robust compliance framework tailored to regional needs. This leadership position entails developing and implementing compliance policies, procedures, and controls related to data protection (GDPR), Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Anti-trust/Competition law, and Economic Sanctions, among other key regulatory areas. The Director will coordinate with corporate functions, business units, and regional offices to monitor and enforce compliance across DP Worldâs GCC operations. They will also lead periodic compliance reviews, prepare detailed compliance reports, and address both internal and external compliance-related requests. The role requires identifying and mitigating compliance risks, monitoring emerging regulatory developments, and ensuring continuous alignment with international standards and best practices. The incumbent will guide and mentor junior compliance staff, oversee documentation review, and ensure that all business processes adhere to DP Worldâs policies and global compliance obligations. As a senior ambassador for compliance within the organization, the Director will uphold DP Worldâs Foundersâ Principles and safety standards, promoting ethical conduct and accountability across all operational areas.

Key responsibilities
- Provide proactive and reliable compliance guidance to the VP & Executive General Counsel and senior management on all GCC-related compliance matters.
- Develop and implement compliance policies, controls, and procedures tailored to DP Worldâs operations and regulatory obligations in the GCC region.
- Identify and interpret laws and regulations relevant to the GCC, including data protection (GDPR), Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Anti-trust/Competition, and Economic Sanctions.
- Ensure effective and timely compliance with all applicable external regulatory frameworks across the region.
- Coordinate with regional offices and business units to monitor adherence to group global policies and implement corrective measures where necessary.
- Conduct periodic reviews of regional policy compliance certifications and compliance programs to verify ongoing adherence.
- Report regularly to the VP & Executive General Counsel on internal and external compliance issues, risks, and corrective actions.
- Support drafting, reviewing, and advising on regulatory and compliance documentation to ensure all requirements are satisfied.
- Collaborate with corporate functions to identify compliance vulnerabilities and implement corrective action plans.
- Guide and supervise junior compliance team members within the GCC region under the direction of the VP & Executive General Counsel.
- Identify and assess emerging regulatory risks and maintain up-to-date awareness of legal and regulatory changes affecting DP Worldâs GCC operations.
- Serve as an ambassador for DP Worldâs compliance culture by promoting ethical conduct, safety, and adherence to corporate values in all activities.
- Represent DP World in interactions with regulators and external stakeholders on compliance-related issues.
- Develop and deliver compliance awareness initiatives and training programs for employees and management teams.
- Ensure integration of compliance considerations into operational and strategic decision-making processes.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorâs Degree in Law from a recognized university in the UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand, or another English-speaking nation.
- Certificate or formal qualification in Compliance function.
- Post-qualification experience within a multinational corporationâs compliance department, ideally with experience in the Middle East region.
- Strong understanding of GCC legal and regulatory frameworks relevant to compliance, privacy, data protection, and anti-corruption laws.
- Proven ability to develop and implement compliance controls, policies, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Experience leading compliance reviews, audits, and regulatory reporting across complex, multi-jurisdictional organizations.
- Excellent negotiation and advisory skills for addressing legal and transactional compliance issues.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and manage compliance risks.
- Effective leadership and mentoring capabilities to guide junior compliance team members.
- Desirable: Arabic language proficiency and prior experience working in the Middle East.
