Job description
In this role you will be responsible for the study, design, specification, and services of transportation systems including roads, rail, airports, and seaports, as well as bridges, infrastructure, drainage, underground utilities, and storage tanks. You will apply your expertise to hydrology and hydraulics, water treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, water resources and raw water supply, tunnels, geotechnical design, and other civil engineering works. Under general supervision, you will independently apply advanced engineering techniques, making decisions on engineering problems and methods. You are responsible for representing the organization in conferences to resolve important questions or negotiate with key engineers and officials of other organizations. Your responsibilities include providing technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers, and you will be consulted extensively by associates and others, with a high degree of reliance placed on your scientific interpretations and advice. In this role you will be responsible for a measurable asset, such as assigned staff and budget, applying your civil and structural engineering expertise specifically to storage tank projects.
Required skills
Key responsibilities

Experience & skills
- Hold an undergraduate degree in Engineering, providing the technical foundation required to work independently across the range of civil and structural disciplines this role covers
- Bring a minimum of 7 years of related experience, with average experience for this level ranging from 10 or more years, reflecting the seniority expected of a Lead-level engineer working under only general supervision
- Demonstrate the ability to independently apply advanced engineering techniques, since the role is explicitly expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy on engineering problems and methods
- Show sound judgment in decision-making on engineering problems, given the role's responsibility for resolving technical questions without close oversight
- Demonstrate strong representational and negotiation skills, since the role includes representing the organization in conferences and negotiating with engineers and officials from other organizations
- Show the ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers, reflecting the role's leadership component within the engineering team

- Show experience or familiarity managing measurable assets such as assigned staff and budget, since this is a stated accountability of the role
- Demonstrate specific expertise relevant to storage tank design, given the role's title and specialization, alongside the broader civil and structural engineering scope described
- Show breadth across the civil engineering disciplines named in the role, including transportation systems, bridges, drainage, water treatment, water resources, tunnels, and geotechnical design, since the position is expected to contribute across this full range of civil works
