Job description
ASTM, BS, IRC, MORTH and AASHTO standards all define what counts as an acceptable construction material on this project, and this role exists to make sure every material used actually clears that bar. You review, evaluate and approve construction materials, mix designs and material submittals before they reach the site. Laboratory and field testing of soil, aggregates, concrete, asphalt and bitumen runs under your supervision, checked against project specifications and drawings at every stage. Quality control and quality assurance processes get monitored and implemented consistently, with test results analyzed to catch non-conformities and recommend corrective action. Site teams rely on this role for technical guidance whenever material performance or related issues come up. Equipment calibration, operation and maintenance stay under this role's oversight, and material approval logs, test reports and quality documentation get prepared and reviewed as part of the routine. Clients, consultants, QA/QC and construction teams all coordinate through this position on material matters. Material engineers, inspectors and laboratory personnel get supervised and mentored directly, with health, safety and environmental requirements upheld throughout the testing process.
