Job description
The Propulsion Engineer role at Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi is responsible for ensuring compliance with all GCAA CAR-M and CAP-Ops 1 regulatory requirements related to Etihadâs aircraft engine and APU fleet to maintain continued airworthiness. The role covers multiple engine types including TRENT XWB-97, V2500, LEAP-1A, GE90, GEnx, and GP7200 as applicable. The position provides cost-effective engineering and technical support across operations and maintenance, supports program management of outsourced maintenance and engineering activities, and liaises with engine and APU OEMs, component manufacturers, and maintenance providers. The Propulsion Engineer issues and revises internal technical publications, assesses airworthiness directives and service bulletins, manages engine modification standards, supports engine removal programs and shop visits, reviews engine health monitoring data, assists with lease engine induction and return, and supports investigation and corrective action for in-service events to improve engine and component reliability. The role also contributes to safety culture by promoting reporting of unsafe acts, conditions, and risks, while supporting maintenance control and reliability improvement initiatives in alignment with Etihad Airwaysâ continued airworthiness and operational objectives.

Key responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with GCAA CAR-M and CAP-Ops 1 requirements to maintain continued airworthiness of Etihad aircraft engines and APUs
- Provide technical support to Maintenance, Technical Contracts, Warranty, Planning, and other departments on propulsion-related issues
- Issue and revise in-house technical publications including Technical Notices and Technical Publication Amendments
- Promote a positive safety reporting culture by reporting unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and safety risks
- Deliver cost-effective engineering technical support for operation and maintenance of the engine and APU fleet
- Support program management of outsourced maintenance and engineering activities in coordination with OEMs and maintenance providers
- Assist in managing engine and component modification standards, specifications, and implementation
- Assess Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins and issue Document Assessment Reports, Engineering Orders, and fleet campaigns
- Support management of engine and APU removal programs and shop visits including review and approval of workscopes and deviations
- Assist with lease engine induction and return activities
- Provide troubleshooting assistance to the Maintenance Control Centre when required
- Review engine health monitoring reports and OEM notifications and issue maintenance instructions to address anomalies
- Support investigation of in-service events, delays, and technical problems and implement corrective action programs to improve reliability
Experience & skills
- Bachelor degree in Aeronautical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or ICAO Type 11 AMEL with Type
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in aircraft engine and APU fleet management
- Experience supporting continued airworthiness and regulatory compliance activities
- Knowledge of aircraft engine types including TRENT XWB-97, V2500, LEAP-1A, GE90, GEnx, and GP7200
- Ability to liaise with OEMs, maintenance providers, and internal engineering and maintenance teams
