Job description
The Engineering Interface Manager role based in Abha, Aseer Province, Saudi Arabia is responsible for coordinating all design and engineering activities for water and wastewater infrastructure projects to ensure alignment with project scope and schedules. The position involves working closely with technical design teams to integrate design delivery timelines with the overall master schedule, monitoring design consultants to ensure correctness, completeness, and compliance with scope of work requirements, and controlling senior discipline engineers on design-related matters. The role includes evaluating variation orders and concession requests submitted by design consultants, reviewing project design strategies, and advising clients on improvements. The Engineering Interface Manager participates in meetings with consultants, sub-consultants, and stakeholders, ensures timely submission of design documents, supports government authority approvals and permits, and ensures delivery of tender documentation according to project schedules. The role also involves providing project data to technical design consultants, updating technical departments on future project requirements, and contributing to development and rectification of departmental operating structures, roles, responsibilities, and tools aligned with international best practices. The position requires maintaining compliance with quality, environmental, safety, and occupational health policies, and performing assigned duties under project management leadership. The candidate must have a Bachelor or Master of Engineering degree, minimum 20 years of experience in water and wastewater project design and engineering works, strong project management skills, experience managing engineering consultants, and strong communication capabilities.

Key responsibilities
- Coordinate all design and engineering interfaces across water and wastewater projects to ensure alignment with project scope, deliverables, and master schedule requirements
- Coordinate with technical design teams to integrate design delivery timelines with overall project master schedule and ensure timely completion of milestones
- Monitor performance of design consultants and sub-consultants to ensure design correctness, completeness, and compliance with scope of work and project requirements
- Control and manage senior discipline engineers within the project management team on all design-related matters and engineering coordination activities
- Evaluate and endorse variation orders and concession requests submitted by design consultants and provide recommendations for client approval
- Attend meetings with design consultants, sub-consultants, and stakeholders to review design progress, resolve interface issues, and align engineering deliverables
- Review project design strategies and provide recommendations to the client to enhance project performance and engineering efficiency
- Ensure timely submission of design documents to government authorities, monitor approval processes, and secure final permits required for project execution and completion
- Ensure delivery of tender documentation according to tendering plans and provide technical input data to engineering consultants
- Support development and improvement of departmental structure, operating procedures, roles, responsibilities, and engineering tools aligned with international best practices
Experience & skills
- Obtain Bachelor or Master of Engineering degree from an accredited university in a relevant engineering discipline
- Possess minimum 20 years of experience in water and wastewater projects design, engineering works, and project management
- Demonstrate knowledge of water and wastewater master planning, design coordination, and infrastructure project delivery
- Demonstrate experience working with or managing engineering consultants and design teams on large-scale infrastructure projects
- Possess strong project management skills including schedule management, stakeholder coordination, and design interface management
- Demonstrate experience in variation order evaluation, tender documentation review, and engineering design strategy development
- Maintain knowledge of quality, environmental, safety, and occupational health compliance requirements within engineering projects
- Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders
