Job description
The Principal Electrical Design Engineer will lead the electrical engineering scope of medium to large-scale Onshore/Offshore projects across the Oil & Gas, hydrocarbon, and infrastructure sectors. The role is responsible for the conceptual, FEED, and detailed design of substations, transmission, and distribution systems, providing technical leadership to a team of 10 to 20 electrical engineers and designers. Key responsibilities include work planning, conducting and reviewing electrical system studies using tools like ETAP, equipment specification, power system analysis, and ensuring design integrity, on-time delivery, and budget adherence. The engineer will represent the electrical discipline in client interactions, vendor discussions, and interdisciplinary coordination. Candidates must have at least 15 years of experience and a Bachelorās degree in Electrical Engineering. Proficiency in global industry codes (IEEE, NFPA, API, IEC, ANSI/NEMA) and Saudi standards is expected.

Key responsibilities
- Lead a team of 10 to 20 electrical engineers and designers in executing project deliverables
- Develop discipline-specific work plans and prepare work-hour estimates
- Perform and review electrical systems studies using tools such as ETAP
- Develop equipment sizes and specifications for electrical components
- Perform and check power systems analysis and ensure protection device coordination
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to both internal teams and clients
- Ensure design integrity, timely delivery, and budget adherence for electrical scope
- Lead technical presentations and discussions with clients and their representatives
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors on technical matters
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
- Have a minimum of 15 yearsā experience in the Oil & Gas, hydrocarbon, or offshore industries
- Demonstrate expertise in design, construction practices, and engineering procedures
- Have extensive knowledge of industry standards such as IEEE, NFPA, API, IEC, ANSI/NEMA
- Possess wide knowledge in electrical power systems, protection philosophies, and device coordination
- Familiarity with Saudi standards and procedures is considered an advantage
