Job description
The Head of Art role at GEMS FirstPoint School – The Villa, Dubai, is a senior academic leadership position responsible for leading and delivering high-quality Art education aligned with the British Curriculum. The role supports students from Nursery through Year 13, including delivery of GCSE, A Level, and BTEC Art programmes. The position operates within a premium British international school environment with state-of-the-art facilities including specialist art, design, textiles, and Design Technology workshops. The role involves planning, preparing, delivering, and assessing Art lessons, maintaining accurate student progress records, and integrating educational technology into teaching and learning. The Head of Art contributes to co-curricular and extra-curricular programmes, supports whole-school initiatives and events, and upholds GEMS policies, safeguarding standards, and core values. The role includes communication with parents, colleagues, and external stakeholders, engagement in continuous professional development, and participation in performance management processes. The school is an inclusive, values-driven environment serving a diverse student body of over 90 nationalities and offering extensive professional development opportunities including NPQ programmes.

Experience & skills
- Demonstrate previous experience as Head of Art with delivery of GCSE and A Level Art programmes
- Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Art or an equivalent qualification
- Hold a recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, or equivalent
- Demonstrate strong classroom practice within a British Curriculum environment
- Meet safeguarding requirements including possession of a UK-enhanced DBS or equivalent police check
- Demonstrate willingness to contribute to wider school life and professional learning initiatives
