Job description
The Quantity Surveyor - Mechanical (Oil, Gas & New Energies) role at Wood in Abu Dhabi involves planning and executing site survey activities for construction, installation, and engineering operations across oil, gas, and new energy projects. The position requires establishing and maintaining control points, benchmarks, and reference systems to ensure precise layout and alignment of pipelines, structures, and equipment. The surveyor must lead and supervise survey teams, manage survey data, perform topographic, geodetic, and as-built surveys, and ensure all work complies with project specifications, standards, and client requirements. The role emphasizes coordination with engineering, construction, and QA/QC teams to resolve discrepancies and support project execution. It also includes calibration and maintenance of survey instruments such as GPS, Total Stations, and Laser Scanners, as well as the preparation of survey documentation, drawings, and digital models. The role demands enforcing safety protocols during survey operations and mentoring junior surveyors while representing the survey discipline in client and contractor meetings. The position is part of Woodâs Construction team under the Oil, Gas & New Energies business and is full-time, onshore, site-based in Abu Dhabi, serving projects for major energy clients focused on oil and gas upstream, midstream, decarbonization, and electrification markets.
