Job description

The Design Operations Lead role at Salla is responsible for bringing structure, clarity, and operational excellence to how design is executed across a fast-scaling digital commerce platform. Operating in a hybrid work model based in Makkah, the role supports Salla’s ecosystem that integrates marketplaces, payments, shipping, and operations into a unified platform for merchants across the region. The position leads the operational backbone of the design organization by auditing existing design workflows across squads, identifying inefficiencies, automation opportunities, and gaps, and building a multi-quarter DesignOps roadmap aligned with product and design OKRs. The role establishes shared design frameworks covering reviews, documentation, collaboration standards, and team rituals, while partnering with HR and Design Leadership on capacity planning, onboarding, and team health initiatives. It governs the full lifecycle of the design system, including versioning, adoption tracking, and cross-platform alignment, and standardizes tools and practices such as Figma branching, file structures, and component governance. The role works closely with engineering to improve design-to-development handoff, QA processes, and delivery quality, integrates UX writers into the design lifecycle to ensure tone consistency, and creates dashboards to monitor design velocity, delivery health, efficiency, and quality. Acting as the connective layer between design, product, and engineering, the role enables alignment, transparency, and scalable delivery while promoting a strong internal design culture through documentation, rituals, and knowledge sharing.
