Job description
Grant Thornton UAE is seeking an Assistant Manager to join its FCC Advisory practice in Dubai. The role involves supporting client engagements to assess and enhance financial crime compliance systems and controls, including AML program development, independent assessments, validations, and monitorships. The successful candidate will deliver advisory projects, drive business development, and supervise junior team members, all while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This position requires a hands-on professional with a strong understanding of FCC frameworks and the ability to deliver implementable, high-quality solutions.

Key responsibilities
- Serve as execution lead for smaller client engagements or support workstreams on larger projects under the guidance of the Project Lead or Engagement Partner/Director.
- Perform AML Program Assessments, internal audits, gap analysis, AUPs, and participate in third-party validations/monitorships.
- Support the development and execution of FCC Program elements such as risk assessments, policies, procedures, typology assessments, and customer risk assessment models.
- Assist in project management activities including planning, tracking progress, client updates, billing, and quality assurance.
- Oversee project engagement formalities such as conflict checks, client acceptance, and documentation.
- Drive business development activities including preparing proposals, marketing initiatives, thought leadership, and client pitches.
- Supervise and mentor junior team members to ensure high-quality outputs.
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and practice development.
Experience & skills
- 5+ years of experience in Financial Crime Advisory or in financial institutions (2nd Line of Defence with advisory responsibilities).
- Strong understanding of FCC Program elements and regulatory expectations for AML/CFT, CPF, and Sanctions in UAE or other international jurisdictions (UK, EU, Singapore, Hong Kong).
- Experience with financial crime systems including transaction monitoring and sanctions screening.
- Proficiency in drafting FCC-related policies and procedures.
- Proven track record in executing small AML advisory projects and supporting medium/large-scale engagements.
- Strong project and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated business development experience including proposal development and thought leadership.
- Excellent written and spoken English; Arabic is an advantage.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA, or CFE are advantageous.
- Knowledge of anti-bribery, corruption, fraud, or market abuse regulations is an advantage.
