Job description
Microsoft is seeking a seasoned Communications Lead to spearhead its public relations strategy across Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt. This role, based in Doha, blends corporate storytelling, media engagement, and reputation management in a high-impact communications environment. As part of the Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa (CEMA) Communications Team, youâll partner with internal leaders and agencies to deliver messaging that elevates Microsoftâs leadership in AI, security, sustainability, and digital transformation. You will play a critical role in managing Microsoftâs external image, aligning regional strategies with global priorities, and ensuring communications resonate culturally and contextually with diverse audiences. With an emphasis on earned media and influencer relations, this is a strategic role designed for a communications expert fluent in both English and Arabic, capable of balancing long-term narrative building with immediate issues management.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute corporate communications strategies tailored for Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt, aligned with global messaging priorities
- Build compelling storytelling content across earned, owned, and paid media to strengthen Microsoftâs position in areas like AI, cybersecurity, sustainability, and digital skills
- Lead reputation management efforts by identifying brand perception risks and correcting misinformation
- Serve as a trusted advisor to local leadership, providing strategic counsel on external and internal communications
- Manage reactive issues in partnership with legal, corporate affairs, and global comms teams
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with pan-Arab and local journalists and influencers across key Middle East markets
- Actively manage agency partners to ensure execution of campaigns and deliverables that support Microsoftâs mission and business goals
- Drive thought leadership initiatives to position Microsoft as a leader in ethical AI adoption and societal impact
- Oversee executive and employee communications, enhancing internal alignment and external spokesperson readiness
- Deliver monthly and quarterly performance reports and insights on campaign effectiveness
Experience & skills
- Minimum 10 yearsâ experience in communications, either in-house or agency-side, ideally within the tech or corporate sectors
- Fluency in both Arabic and English (spoken, written, and read)
- Strong media and influencer relations experience across the MENA region
- Deep understanding of the political, economic, and media landscapes of the Middle East, particularly Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt
- Proven track record in corporate communications, including issues management and crisis response
- Experience in AI or tech-sector communications with demonstrated ability to align storytelling with strategic business goals
- Excellent writing, messaging, and storytelling skills across multiple formats and channels
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects while meeting tight deadlines
- Experience advising C-level executives on communication strategies
- Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a hybrid environment
