Job description
GEMS Metropole School – Al Waha is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead the HR function, managing the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, HR operations, and offboarding. Reporting directly to the Principal/CEO and functionally to the HR Business Partner, this role will oversee day-to-day HR activities while ensuring compliance with UAE Labour Law. The HR Manager will act as the first point of contact for school staff on HR matters, champion employee engagement, and provide strategic support on HR initiatives to align with GEMS policies and school objectives.

Key responsibilities
- Support the Principal/CEO in recruitment for all school positions and manage recruitment of non-teaching roles end-to-end.
- Coordinate with the School Support Centre HR recruitment team for teaching positions.
- Prepare employment contracts using D365 in compliance with policies and UAE Labour Law.
- Coordinate offer letters and contracts with government relations staff.
- Manage onboarding, including inductions, documentation, travel bookings, and benefits enrollment.
- Oversee daily HR operations, policies, and procedures at the school.
- Maintain employee filing systems and HRIS records.
- Administer benefits and liaise with insurance carriers.
- Produce official HR documents such as NOCs, salary certificates, and transfer letters.
- Run HR reports from D365 as required by management and HR Cluster Leads.
- Draft correspondence, letters, and memos as needed.
- Prepare statistical reports for school and GEMS corporate office.
- Engage with other school HR officers to share best practices.
- Advise and support management and staff on UAE Labour Law and compliance issues.
- Investigate and resolve employee relations matters in coordination with HR Area Managers.
- Conduct exit interviews and manage separations process from resignation/termination to clearance.
- Champion employee engagement and act as a positive role model for staff.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant diploma.
- 2–3 years of experience in an HR generalist capacity within a school.
- Experience with HR management systems, preferably D365.
- Knowledge of HR procedures, policies, and UAE Labour Law.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working in multicultural environments preferred.
- Credible experience managing employee relations.
- Ability to influence colleagues and work collaboratively in a diverse environment.
- Attention to detail with ability to prioritize tasks and deliver results efficiently.
