Job description
The Assistant Category Manager (ACM) is responsible for leading category-specific procurement activities that support organizational procurement strategy and project delivery in an engineering and procurement-driven environment. The role manages strategic sourcing initiatives, vendor performance monitoring, and spend analysis to ensure efficient purchasing and cost optimization across procurement cycles. The ACM aligns procurement strategy development with company objectives and long-term goals while establishing strategic long-term purchase agreements (LTPA) for targeted procurement items annually. The position conducts market research to identify potential suppliers, assess industry trends, and support supplier selection strategies. The role ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements across procurement processes and utilizes Dashboard reporting tools to review spend analysis and savings reports to evaluate procurement effectiveness. The ACM also reviews and tracks In-Country Value (ICV) data using Procure Lens and ensures valid ICV certificates are obtained from major vendors. Operationally, the role manages critical procurement items within assigned categories by obtaining at least three competitive quotations through Request for Quotation (RFQ) processes, preparing Preliminary Cost Comparison (CC) sheets to evaluate supplier pricing, and coordinating technical evaluations with project teams and design departments. The role negotiates with suppliers to ensure compliance with technical specifications and commercial terms while coordinating technical submittals for client or operations approvals. The ACM ensures proper contract management by collecting approved signed contracts and distributing copies to suppliers and the Contracts & Commercial (C&C) Department for documentation and record-keeping. The role collaborates with Business Units, Contracts & Commercial (C&C) Department, and Design teams to finalize contract versions and facilitate procurement execution. The position also liaises with the PSSC team to support E-Auction activities, vendor onboarding processes, vendor performance feedback, and internal stakeholder reviews. The Assistant Category Manager supports the Category Manager in conducting annual vendor performance reviews and implementing corrective actions. Additionally, the role monitors procurement performance through the Procure Lens Dashboard to track Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and ensure procurement timelines are met while maintaining contract logs, procurement records, and order documentation to support transparency, compliance, and procurement governance. The role also coordinates the collection and verification of valid In-Country Value (ICV) certificates and ensures vendor records are updated when certificates expire.

Experience & skills
- Obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Demonstrate a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in Procurement, Contract management, and Category management.
- Possess experience in strategic sourcing, vendor performance monitoring, and spend analysis within procurement environments.
- Apply knowledge of procurement processes including RFQ management, Preliminary Cost Comparison (CC) preparation, and supplier negotiations.
- Demonstrate experience managing procurement documentation including contracts, contract logs, and procurement records.
- Utilize procurement monitoring tools such as Procure Lens and Dashboard reporting systems to analyze procurement performance.
- Demonstrate experience managing vendor compliance documentation including In-Country Value (ICV) certificates.
- Possess experience coordinating procurement activities with project teams, design departments, Contracts & Commercial (C&C) teams, and procurement support teams such as PSSC.
