Job description
The Head of Legal at FAB Asset Management is responsible for developing and executing the legal strategy and governance framework in alignment with the organization's priorities. This includes oversight of all legal affairs, ensuring compliance with UAE, GCC, and international regulations for fund structures, discretionary portfolio management (DPM), and investment contracts. The role entails collaboration with compliance, risk, and finance teams to assess and mitigate legal risk, leading litigation management and dispute resolution, and enhancing governance structures. The Head of Legal will also manage legal interactions with regulators at both regional and international levels. As part of FAB’s Group Finance Division, this position demands excellent cross-team leadership, stakeholder advisory capabilities, and a proactive approach to regulatory and legal policy adherence within a dynamic financial institution.

Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement the overall legal strategy and governance framework aligned with FAB Asset Management priorities.
- Define the operating legal framework in consultation with internal teams, ensuring the existence of robust legal policies and controls.
- Oversee all legal affairs of FAB Asset Management, providing legal consultation across all business functions and stakeholders.
- Ensure legal documentation, fund structures, and investment contracts comply with UAE and international regulations.
- Collaborate with compliance, risk, and finance teams to assess and mitigate legal risks.
- Lead legal interactions with regional and international regulators.
- Develop and maintain legal frameworks that enhance governance and regulatory compliance.
- Guide and lead litigation management and dispute resolution efforts related to investments and corporate governance.
- Advise on legal matters involving Discretionary Portfolio Management (DPM), fund management, international risk, and compliance.
- Foster and manage effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
Experience & skills
- Expert knowledge of asset management regulations in the UAE, GCC, and international markets.
- In-depth understanding of discretionary portfolio management (DPM) and fund management.
- Strong background in legal and regulatory compliance.
- Proven ability to manage litigation and dispute resolution processes.
- Demonstrated experience in developing legal risk mitigation strategies.
- Leadership experience with team and cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills to support and advise senior leadership and board members.
- Minimum of 8 years’ professional experience, including at least 3 years in a similar legal leadership role.
