Job description
The PMC Project Manager role at AtkinsRéalis in Al Ula, Maddinah, Saudi Arabia, involves overseeing complex building projects, ensuring delivery meets quality, safety, and efficiency standards. Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage multi-disciplinary construction teams, including civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural professionals, to ensure all aspects of the project are executed according to the design, specifications, and client expectations. Provide clear direction, motivate the team, and foster collaboration to maintain high productivity and morale.
- Oversee project execution by developing detailed project plans, defining critical paths, scheduling milestones, and monitoring progress against timelines and budgets. Ensure that project activities adhere to established standards, policies, and procedures while proactively mitigating delays and bottlenecks.
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor performance, conducting regular site inspections, reviewing work quality, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, safety regulations, and HSE requirements. Address performance issues promptly and implement corrective actions to maintain project standards.
- Coordinate closely with internal departments, including design, procurement, engineering, and operations, to ensure seamless communication, timely delivery of resources, and integration of project components. Resolve conflicts and facilitate information flow between stakeholders.
- Engage directly with clients to provide updates on project progress, resolve issues, manage expectations, and ensure satisfaction. Develop strong relationships to build trust, maintain the company’s reputation, and identify opportunities for future projects or collaborations.
- Interact with government authorities, local municipalities, and regulatory agencies to secure necessary approvals, permits, and inspections. Ensure that all legal, regulatory, and environmental requirements are fully met throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage project budgets by reviewing costs, approving expenditures, and implementing cost-control measures. Track financial performance, forecast potential overruns, and identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency without compromising quality.
- Implement and maintain project controls systems, including documentation, reporting, risk management, and change management processes. Ensure accurate record-keeping and timely submission of progress reports, schedules, and status updates to management and clients.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) from a recognized institution, providing a solid technical foundation to oversee all engineering aspects of large-scale building projects.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, including at least 5 years with Project Management Consultancies (PMCs), demonstrating expertise in managing complex, multi-functional infrastructure projects and handling diverse stakeholder requirements.
- Proven track record in leading large-scale construction projects, including planning, design review, execution, quality assurance, and commissioning, ensuring successful delivery on time and within budget while maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, project controls, scheduling, and resource allocation, with the ability to apply these methods effectively to optimize efficiency and minimize risks. Familiarity with cost estimation, procurement, and contract administration is essential.
- Comprehensive understanding of quality assurance standards, health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, and best practices in construction management. Ability to enforce safety policies and maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage multi-disciplinary teams, interact with clients, contractors, and government authorities, and resolve conflicts diplomatically. Proven ability to motivate teams, build consensus, and foster collaboration across diverse groups.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities to identify project risks, propose innovative solutions, and implement contingency plans. Capacity to anticipate issues and make proactive decisions to ensure project continuity and client satisfaction.
