Job description
The Senior Expert (Solar) ā Procurement & Supply Chain at Masdar in Abu Dhabi is responsible for managing procurement processes and activities for solar energy projects, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of purchasing operations in compliance with Masdarās policies, procedures, and regulations. The role involves administering purchasing processes, negotiating contracts and POs, monitoring service levels, and ensuring optimal long-term value for projects. The position prepares RFQs for main equipment based on client RFPs and project documents, consolidates technical, commercial, and project team feedback, communicates with OEMs for clarifications, evaluates quotations, and coordinates logistics RFQs with vendors. The expert leads commercial negotiations of supply contracts, manages supply schedules, develops material cost forecasts, and ensures quality and factory qualification of PV modules, inverters, trackers, and wind turbines. The role requires maintaining accurate documentation for audit compliance, partnering with internal stakeholders to enhance processes and systems, and providing visibility of purchasing progress. Technical expertise in renewable energy, knowledge of IPP tenders, EPC works, corporate and project finance, commercial risk, quality standards of main equipment, and performance indicators are essential. The position demands strong analytical, research, and interpersonal skills to manage a diverse cross-functional team and communicate effectively within a corporate environment.

Key responsibilities
- Administer purchasing processes and operations utilizing analysis and judgement to resolve work-related matters in alignment with broad policies and objectives.
- Negotiate terms and conditions, and manage development and administration of contracts and Purchase Orders (POs) in accordance with Masdarās policies, procedures, standards, and timelines.
- Monitor purchasing service levels to ensure the provision of high-quality services to internal customers and fairness of procurement processes to suppliers.
- Prepare RFQs for main equipment based on clientsā RFPs and project documentation, consolidate technical, commercial, and project team feedback, and float RFQs to OEMs to obtain quotations.
- Coordinate with internal teams to clarify OEM responses, evaluate RFQ submissions, and present results based on commercial and technical evaluations to the project team.
- Prepare and float logistics RFQs to vendors, negotiate armās length terms and select transportation routes to maximize efficiency in warehousing, shipping, and distribution.
- Coordinate preparation of supply contracts with legal, contract, and technical teams; lead commercial negotiations to ensure suitability and adherence to project schedules.
- Manage supply schedules to ensure compliance with project program timelines, develop material cost forecasts, and prepare supply contract term sheets in coordination with technical and project teams.
- Qualify main equipment factories for PV modules, inverters, trackers, and wind turbines, implement internal quality requirements, update qualifications as per technology improvements, and ensure compliance with local content requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of contracts, POs, and records for audit compliance, support process and system enhancements, and provide visibility of purchasing progress to internal stakeholders.
Experience & skills
- MBA or relevant Masterās degree from a top-tier internationally recognized institution preferred; Bachelorās degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or related field required.
- 5ā7 years of experience in procurement of main equipment for renewable energy projects such as PV Solar and Wind energy plants.
- 2ā3 years of experience in renewable energy EPC works.
- Knowledge of renewable energy and traditional energy industry, including EPC project execution and IPP tenders.
- Technical knowledge of quality requirements and performance indicators for PV modules, inverters, trackers, and wind turbines.
- Proficient in contract negotiation, purchase order administration, RFQ preparation, and supply chain management.
- Strong research, analytical, and commercial risk management skills with understanding of corporate and project finance transactions.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with ability to lead cross-functional teams and apply a consultative approach within a corporate environment.
- Knowledge of processes, templates, tools, and systems used in bids and proposals for renewable energy projects.
