Job description
Guests, athletes, VIPs, workforce, logistics, emergency services and public transport users all need to move safely and efficiently across venues and districts during major events, and that coordination is what this Director role owns. You'll lead the development and delivery of integrated mobility planning for major events, festivals, sporting competitions and entertainment activations through 2028. Citywide mobility standards, demand forecasts, traffic and event mobility plans, and operational readiness arrangements all get built as part of the City Operations mobility mandate. Venue and asset operators keep responsibility for their own controlled areas, so this role's job is coordination across the whole picture rather than operating each site directly. Transport demand forecasts and arrival and departure strategies get developed for guests, VIPs, athletes, performers, workforce, media and emergency services. Multiple concurrent events need coordinated mobility requirements to optimize network performance, capacity and operational resilience. Traffic management, access control, road network planning, parking strategies, vehicle accreditation and emergency access arrangements all fall under this role's oversight. Public transport, shuttle services, taxis, ride-hailing, active mobility and last-mile connectivity all get integrated into event operations rather than planned in isolation. Operational readiness gets tested through simulations, test events, command-and-control planning and live event mobility operations, with post-event reviews closing the loop.
