Job description
Departmental budgets in an oil and gas operation need close control from the first draft through to year end, and this senior controller carries that responsibility. Budgets are prepared with each department, then spending is monitored against them month by month. Where costs drift, the variances are explained and corrective action is agreed with budget holders. Financial reports go to management on a regular basis, giving a clear picture of spend, forecast and cost control performance. Cost recovery also sits within the remit, which means recoverable costs are tracked and supported with accurate records. SAP knowledge is preferred, and BI analytics tools are used for reporting. Four years in budgeting, costing or planning within oil and gas is expected, including at least 3 in a commercial cost and planning position. A Bachelor of Business, Finance or Accounting is required, and CIMA, CPA or equivalent certification is recommended.
