Job description
Full-time on-site Senior Planner role in Sharjah (5/2 work schedule) within Woodâs in-house Project Controls team supporting an International Client operator to deliver a portfolio of onshore capital projects through engineering and project management services, EPC contract management, and Supply Chain, Construction and Commissioning support from Wood Iraq and UAE offices. The mandate includes providing accurate monthly cost and progress reports with early warnings, forecast completions, critical path and trend analyses; advising on cost control, planning and contract compliance; tracking progress against the Approved Baseline Plan; preparing special progress and cost reports and forecasts; coordinating routine progress reporting; participating in reporting on process and cost; developing a suitable Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) covering project scope; developing, baselining, updating, and maintaining detailed project schedules across design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up; coordinating with client representatives, project engineers, contractors and subcontractors to capture requirements and inputs; presenting cost reports, schedules and manpower histograms to project teams and client; supporting and mentoring project controls team members; identifying and sharing lessons learned for continuous improvement; and applying fair knowledge of schedule integration between Engineering, Procurement and Construction, with hands-on experience developing EPC schedules during the FEED phase to help identify the EPC contractor. The role requires maintaining high standards of safety and quality in line with company procedures while contributing to delivery on complex projects in Iraq and the UAE, within a diverse, multi-national, multi-cultural environment.

Key responsibilities
- Provide accurate monthly cost and progress reports with early warnings, forecast completions, critical path and trend analyses
- Ensure all work complies with company procedures and quality requirements while maintaining high safety standards
- Advise the project team on cost control, planning, and contract compliance across all phases
- Track progress and report against the Approved Baseline Plan, highlighting variances and recovery actions
- Prepare special progress reports, cost reports, and forecasts for project activities as required
- Support and participate in the change management process with project leaders and contractors
- Coordinate routine progress reporting and contribute to process and cost reporting cycles
- Develop an appropriate Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) that fully covers project requirements and scope
- Develop, baseline, update, and maintain detailed schedules for design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up
- Coordinate with client representatives, project engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to gather inputs and align schedules and reports
- Follow up with project stakeholders to secure timely updates for reports and schedules
- Present cost reports, schedules, and manpower histograms to the project team and client when required
- Provide training, mentoring, and ongoing project controls guidance to project team members and support team development
- Identify and disseminate lessons learned to drive continuous improvement in project performance and company operations
- Apply schedule integration knowledge between Engineering, Procurement, and Construction to ensure seamless handoffs
- Develop EPC schedules during the FEED phase to support EPC contractor identification and selection
Experience & skills
- Minimum 8â10 yearsâ experience in the oil and gas industry
- Graduate Degree; PMP preferred
- Experience working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams (Middle East experience an advantage)
- Expert capability in report writing and presentation of cost and schedule information
- Familiarity with project controls systems and processes
- Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to supervise and delegate
- Ability to integrate schedules across engineering, procurement, and construction, including EPC schedule development during FEED
- Commitment to quality and safety in accordance with company procedures
