Job description
The Automation Customer Success Engineer (IT Operations & FinOps) at IBM Global Sales is responsible for designing viable client solutions by leveraging current IBM product capabilities and removing technical inhibitors to sales opportunities. The role focuses on working closely with clients to drive adoption, expansion, and value realization from IBM’s automation, IT Operations (ItOps), and FinOps technology portfolio. The Customer Success Engineer delivers technical proof points through demonstrations, Proof of Technology (POTs), Proof of Concepts (POCs), workshops, solution design sessions, and Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) to demonstrate product value and accelerate adoption. The role involves activating client entitlements, identifying executive sponsors, conducting use-case workshops, and establishing measurable business outcomes aligned with digital transformation objectives. The position requires creating comprehensive success plans including deployment roadmaps, milestones, and measurable outcomes to ensure successful implementation and expansion of IBM solutions. The engineer works closely with stakeholders to understand client challenges, identify modernization opportunities, and support hybrid cloud and automation initiatives. The role requires collaboration across IBM Global Markets, client teams, and partners to optimize technical solutions, support product acceleration initiatives, and enhance customer value. The Customer Success Engineer also contributes to technical solution optimization, adoption strategies, and long-term client success while supporting IBM’s technology portfolio including automation, IT operations, and financial operations capabilities.

Key responsibilities
- Design viable client solutions leveraging IBM product capabilities and remove technical inhibitors to sales opportunities
- Deliver technical proof points through demonstrations, Proof of Technology, Proof of Concept, workshops, solution design sessions, and Minimum Viable Products
- Drive customer adoption and expansion of IBM automation, IT Operations, and FinOps solutions
- Activate client entitlements by identifying sponsors and conducting use-case workshops
- Develop success plans including deployment roadmaps, milestones, and measurable business outcomes
- Understand client challenges and recommend modernization strategies using IBM technology portfolio
- Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize technical solutions and improve product adoption
- Conduct workshops and technical sessions to demonstrate value of IBM automation solutions
- Support technical accelerators to accelerate customer value realization
- Work with clients to establish measurable business outcomes and adoption milestones
- Support deployment and expansion of IBM solutions across customer environments
- Provide technical guidance during solution design and implementation phases
Experience & skills
- Hold High School Diploma or GED qualification with Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Demonstrate experience in technical solution design and client solution architecture
- Demonstrate experience delivering technical demonstrations, POCs, POTs, and MVPs
- Demonstrate exposure to IT Operations and FinOps automation solutions
- Demonstrate experience working with enterprise technology portfolios
- Demonstrate experience creating deployment roadmaps and success plans
- Demonstrate experience conducting use-case workshops and client engagements
- Demonstrate exposure to hybrid cloud and digital transformation initiatives
- Demonstrate experience optimizing technical solutions for customer environments
