Job description
Space42, a UAE-based AI-powered SpaceTech company formed from the merger of Bayanat and Yahsat, is seeking an Engineer - Core Infrastructure to support its IT corporate department. The role involves maintaining and enhancing the Windows computing environment, managing mission-critical servers, ensuring integration with existing systems, and supporting storage infrastructure. The engineer will be responsible for system upgrades, monitoring, and preventive maintenance, as well as providing technical consultancy for new projects. The position requires expertise in hardware/software installation, cloud infrastructure, security, disaster recovery, and LAN administration, ensuring corporate services remain secure, reliable, and efficient.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Manage mission-critical Windows servers (software/hardware) in both physical and virtual platforms.
- Ensure proper integration of servers with company computer systems.
- Install and debug new or upgraded software on servers.
- Conduct growth analysis and capacity planning.
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis.
- Upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
- Configure and add new services as required.
- Perform preventive and performance maintenance activities such as system restart, disk cleanup, and access review.
- Research, evaluate, purchase, install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware, peripherals, and equipment.
- Manage company storage infrastructure including SAN and NAS technologies.
- Ensure corporate service availability via centralized monitoring systems.
- Provide technical consultancy and guidance to departments initiating new projects.
- Perform user administration tasks, including account setup and maintenance.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorâs Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
- Minimum of 5 yearsâ experience in IT infrastructure/system administration.
- Familiarity with different versions of Windows Servers.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements.
- Ability to design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure and services.
- Expertise in hardware and software installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of data security and disaster recovery systems and procedures.
- Understanding of network systems, protocols, and applications.
- Knowledge of LAN administration in secure environments.
- Ability to identify and coordinate hardware/software solutions.
- Knowledge of systems security protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to conduct growth analysis and capacity planning.
- Knowledge of multi-user systems, applications, and equipment.
- Knowledge of data management techniques.
- Ability to plan, implement, test, and troubleshoot system software.
