Job description
The Head of Human Resources - Qatar at Standard Chartered Bank will lead the HR strategy and operations across the Qatar market, ensuring alignment with the Groupās global HR vision while addressing local market needs. As a key member of the Country Management Team, this role acts as a strategic advisor to business leaders, driving people and performance strategies that enable sustainable business growth. The Head of HR will serve as the HR Subject Matter Expert for Qatar, collaborating with regional and global HR counterparts to harmonize processes, embed best practices, and strengthen leadership capabilities across the organization. The position demands strong experience in talent management, employee engagement, compliance, and change leadership, with the ability to balance strategic direction and hands-on delivery. The incumbent will also champion diversity, inclusion, and wellbeing initiatives while ensuring compliance with Qatarās labor laws and regulations. This is a leadership position that requires exceptional stakeholder management, business acumen, and the ability to influence and shape organizational culture within a highly regulated, performance-driven environment.

Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement HR strategies that align with both Group HR frameworks and the strategic goals of the Qatar business.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Country CEO and senior management, driving organizational effectiveness and workforce capability.
- Lead talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning strategies to ensure the business attracts and develops top-tier talent.
- Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and employee engagement initiatives to create a high-performing and inclusive workplace.
- Ensure HR policies and procedures comply with Qatar labor laws and internal governance standards.
- Oversee performance management frameworks that drive accountability and support leadership development.
- Collaborate with regional and global HR teams to adapt corporate initiatives for local implementation.
- Lead HR compliance and risk management processes in partnership with legal and compliance teams.
- Monitor labor market trends and workforce analytics to anticipate talent challenges and develop proactive solutions.
- Promote employee wellbeing and mental health programs to support sustainable performance.
- Lead change management strategies that enable smooth organizational transformation and employee buy-in.
- Foster leadership capability across all levels by coaching managers and strengthening people management skills.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration between HR, business heads, and key stakeholders.
- Provide strategic direction for HR operations, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Professional HR certification such as CIPD, SHRM, or equivalent is required.
- Fluency in both English and Arabic is mandatory.
- Extensive experience in senior HR leadership roles within multinational organizations, preferably in the financial services sector.
- Proven expertise in designing and implementing end-to-end HR strategies including talent management, employee relations, and organizational development.
- Deep understanding of Qatarās labor laws, employment regulations, and compliance standards.
- Strong track record of influencing senior stakeholders and driving people-related business transformation.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and leadership skills with a collaborative and results-oriented mindset.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and managing high-performing HR teams.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and use insights to inform decision-making.
