Job description
The Accountant â Finance role at Orient Insurance PJSC, part of the Al-Futtaim Group, involves managing the companyâs financial reporting, accounts receivable, and compliance functions to ensure accuracy, transparency, and adherence to regulatory requirements. The position supports the Finance Manager in preparing budgets, management reports, and government-mandated financial statistics. The Accountant supervises the preparation and reconciliation of accounts receivable ledgers for head office and branch offices, ensuring accuracy between subsidiary records and the general ledger. Responsibilities include monitoring financial submissions from branches, maintaining broker accounts, reviewing premium registers, and identifying variances for corrective action. This position plays a crucial role in supporting decision-making processes through the provision of accurate financial data, ensuring Orient Insurance maintains compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and federal laws. Key responsibilities
- Supervise the preparation and maintenance of the accounts receivable ledger for the head office to ensure timely and accurate client account statements.
- Reconcile accounts receivable statements between head office, branch offices, and the chief agency against the general ledger to identify and address discrepancies.
- Assist the Finance Manager in compiling data for management reports related to underwriting and financial performance for executive decision-making.
- Collect and organize financial and statistical data for submission to government ministries and regulatory bodies to comply with statutory requirements.
- Review financial reports submitted by branch offices, verify accuracy, and ensure proper accounting treatment of their transactions.
- Maintain and update insurance broker accounts, ensuring reconciliation and prompt resolution of any variances identified.
- Check and verify premium registers for accuracy, identifying inconsistencies and initiating corrective actions as needed.
- Assist in preparing periodic financial statements, ensuring compliance with company accounting standards and regulatory obligations.
- Provide timely support in audits and internal control reviews, maintaining proper documentation for verification.
- Ensure all accounting processes are carried out in alignment with Orient Insurance PJSCâs internal policies and Al-Futtaim Groupâs governance standards.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorâs degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or related field.
- 2â4 years of accounting experience within insurance, banking, or financial services, preferably in the UAE.
- Knowledge of insurance accounting practices and commercial operations within the financial services industry.
- Proficiency in accounting systems and financial software tools, including Excel and ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and reconcile discrepancies.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to deliver results within tight deadlines.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in preparing and reviewing financial documents.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with branch and head office teams.
- Familiarity with UAE financial regulations and reporting requirements.
