Job description
The Accountant (French Speaker) role is based at Odoo’s Dubai South Business Park office and operates within a fast-growing enterprise software company delivering fully open-source, fully featured enterprise management solutions covering Accounting, HR, CRM, Manufacturing, and thousands of additional applications. The role sits within a team of eight accounting professionals and is responsible for executing daily accounting management activities, including detailed bookkeeping, invoice processing, vendor and partner payments, and responding to accounting-related inquiries. The position oversees accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, ensuring accurate journal entries, general ledger transactions, preparation of AR and AP aging reports, proactive collection activities, and detailed review of sales, service, and credit contracts related to overdue balances. The role requires close interaction with banks, auditors, regulatory authorities, and external stakeholders, acting as a primary point of contact to ensure transparent communication. Responsibilities include coordinating month-end and year-end financial closings, supporting audits, performing account reconciliations, maintaining asset depreciation schedules, preparing VAT returns in compliance with UAE VAT regulations, conducting financial statement analysis, and contributing to process improvement initiatives. The role also facilitates inter-company transactions and maintains coordination with headquarters, while engaging in tasks requiring technical accounting expertise, autonomy, administrative work, and customer relationship management in a dynamic startup environment.

Key responsibilities
- Execute daily accounting operations including bookkeeping, invoice processing, and vendor payment processing
- Respond to accounting inquiries with accurate and comprehensive solutions
- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable activities including journal entries and general ledger transactions
- Prepare and analyze AR and AP aging reports and proactively manage collections
- Review sales, service, and credit contracts to address overdue accounts
- Maintain relationships with banks, auditors, regulatory authorities, and external stakeholders
- Serve as the primary accounting contact for external and internal stakeholders
- Coordinate and execute month-end and year-end financial closing processes
- Support internal and external audit activities by providing documentation and explanations
- Process internal and external vendor and partner payments accurately and on time
- Perform account reconciliations and assist with financial analysis and reporting
- Maintain and update asset depreciation schedules
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in compliance with UAE VAT regulations
- Analyze financial statements and provide detailed explanations of variances and results
- Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes and controls
- Facilitate inter-company transactions and maintain coordination with headquarters
Experience & skills
- Related Bachelor Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a similar field
- 1–5 years of relevant accounting experience
- Fluency in English and French
- Understanding of GAAP and IFRS accounting standards
- Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems
- Hands-on experience with UAE VAT compliance and VAT return preparation
- Availability to join immediately
- Finance-related professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, CFA is an advantage
- Understanding of macroeconomics in the GCC region is an advantage
