Job description
Science practicals only run smoothly when the lab behind them is properly stocked, organised and safe, and that upkeep is what this Science Lab Technician role covers at GEMS Metropole School, Al Waha. Registers of lab equipment, chemicals and other consumables need maintaining and keeping up to date, so teachers always know what is available and what needs reordering. You'll prepare lab experiments and practicals in coordination with the Head of Science and the wider Science teaching team, making sure everything is ready before a lesson starts. Keeping the labs organised and clean falls to this role too, again working alongside the Head of Science and teachers rather than in isolation. Safety procedures in the labs are a shared responsibility across the department, and this technician plays an active part in keeping them followed day to day. Good interpersonal skills matter here, since the role means working effectively with both staff and students across the school. Attention to detail and a genuinely organised approach help keep equipment and chemical records accurate, and a team player mindset fits well given how closely this role works with the Science department.
