Job description
The Manager - Commercial Banking role at First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) is responsible for supporting the acquisition, management, and credit analysis of the discretionary lending portfolio within the Commercial Banking division. The position focuses on assisting Relationship Managers with client onboarding, transaction execution, credit proposal preparation, and risk analysis to ensure high-quality service delivery and portfolio performance. The role requires a deep understanding of commercial and business banking operations, trade working capital solutions, and financial statement interpretation. The manager will analyze audited financials, cash flow forecasts, and prepare detailed credit submissions, identifying key risks and mitigants while adhering to the bankās risk appetite and governance frameworks. Additionally, the role emphasizes cross-selling opportunities, collaboration with internal teams (such as Trade Finance, Treasury, and Cash Management), and the delivery of exceptional client service. The incumbent will contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with FABās values, policies, and operating standards while driving operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities
- Perform credit analysis, review audited financial statements, and prepare detailed credit proposals for client portfolios
- Support Relationship Managers in onboarding and monitoring of discretionary lending customers
- Ensure timely and accurate financial spreading and turnaround of credit proposals within benchmarked timeframes
- Assist in client portfolio administration, ensuring compliance with internal policies, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements
- Extract, interpret, and analyze financial statements and cash flow forecasts to assess client creditworthiness and identify key risks and mitigants
- Support the origination, execution, and monitoring of customer transactions in alignment with risk and compliance policies
- Identify and refer cross-sell opportunities to specialists in Trade Finance, Treasury, and Cash Management to maximize client value
- Deliver exceptional client service by addressing queries promptly and maintaining high service standards
- Generate internal and external reports for portfolio and customer performance monitoring
- Maintain accurate data entry and ensure information in the bankās systems is complete, consistent, and up to date
- Educate clients on access channels such as Corporate Internet Banking and Phone Banking to promote digital engagement
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance service delivery and achieve sales targets
- Ensure compliance with bank policies, ethical standards, and risk appetite frameworks while contributing to performance improvement initiatives
- Prepare timely reports, analyses, and recommendations for management decision-making
Experience & skills
- Hold a bachelorās degree in Business Administration, Finance, Banking, or a related field
- Possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in corporate, commercial, or business banking, including at least 3 years in similar support or analytical roles
- Experience in credit analysis, risk assessment, and trade working capital management
- Strong knowledge of lending practices, financial modeling, and credit proposal preparation
- Ability to interpret and analyze complex financial data and reports
- Demonstrated ability to identify cross-selling opportunities and enhance client relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in banking systems, credit platforms, and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
