Inception42, part of G42, runs several applied AI research programmes at once, and this Director sets the technical direction for all of them from Abu Dhabi. The flagship work covers a foundation language model family and research into multi-agent and agentic systems. For the language model programme, you direct the full cycle, from pre-training and post-training (instruction tuning, alignment) through evaluation of language quality, multilingual performance and safety posture, to release. Release, IP and prioritisation decisions carry your sign-off as the named technical arbiter. High-stakes client delivery tracks that turn research into production also report up through regular reviews on progress, blockers and re-allocation. Executive visibility is high, with presentations at CEO, group-executive and Board level. Strategic partnerships span academic research partners, frontier-model labs, hyperscalers, sister-organisation safety teams and evaluation and red-teaming vendors. A team of applied scientists and senior applied scientists relies on you for mentorship, hiring and talent strategy. Expect to bring 10+ years in AI/ML with at least 4 in director-level leadership, ownership of a production foundation-model release, a strong publication record, and hands-on experience with agentic-AI architectures and Arabic or lower-resource-language NLP.
