Job description
The Sales Manager is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of key clients within the exhibitions and events sector, focusing on driving revenue, building long-term client relationships, and delivering tailored sponsorship and exhibition solutions. The role requires a consultative sales approach, strong commercial acumen, and collaboration across content, marketing, operations, and sales teams to ensure successful event delivery and client satisfaction. The position involves managing high-value key accounts with significant contract values, acting as the primary point of contact throughout the sales cycle and event lifecycle, and developing customized partnership proposals aligned with client objectives and event offerings. The role includes achieving and exceeding revenue and profit targets, identifying opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, renewals, and new business development, and converting prospects into long-term clients through effective relationship management. The Sales Manager conducts market research to understand client industries, trends, and challenges, builds pipelines, expands event portfolios, and supports onsite event delivery by liaising with exhibitors and sponsors while ensuring contractual obligations are fulfilled. The role requires monitoring industry trends, competitor activity, and market developments, engaging with industry publications, and contributing insights to improve event strategy. Additionally, the role involves cross-functional collaboration, mentorship of junior team members, and participation in team initiatives while demonstrating leadership potential and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

- Manage and grow a portfolio of high-value key accounts with significant contract values by maintaining continuous engagement with senior stakeholders, acting as the primary point of contact throughout the full sales cycle and event lifecycle, ensuring consistent communication, relationship development, and alignment with client expectations while strengthening long-term partnerships
- Drive revenue generation by achieving and exceeding individual revenue and profit targets through identifying and executing upselling, cross-selling, renewals, and new business development opportunities, converting prospects into long-term clients using tailored sponsorship and exhibition solutions aligned with their strategic objectives
- Adopt a consultative sales approach by conducting in-depth market research to understand client industries, marketing goals, business needs, trends, and challenges, and leveraging these insights to develop highly customized partnership proposals that align client objectives with event offerings
- Build, manage, and maintain a strong sales pipeline by proactively identifying opportunities within both existing accounts and new prospects, nurturing leads into sustainable long-term relationships, and contributing to the strategic expansion and growth of the event portfolio
- Support event delivery and execution by attending exhibitions and events onsite, liaising directly with exhibitors and sponsors, ensuring all contractual obligations are fulfilled accurately, managing expectations, and resolving client queries or issues efficiently during the event period
- Collaborate cross-functionally with content, marketing, operations, and sales teams to ensure alignment on client requirements and event strategy, sharing client insights and feedback to enhance overall event performance, improve offerings, and drive continuous improvement
- Monitor and analyze market awareness by staying informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and relevant market developments, regularly engaging with industry publications and updates to identify opportunities and risks that may impact sales strategies
- Contribute to team success and leadership initiatives by supporting team activities, mentoring junior team members when required, demonstrating initiative in taking on additional responsibilities, and fostering a collaborative, team-oriented working environment
Experience & skills
- Demonstrate proven experience in exhibitions, events, sponsorship sales, or B2B account management, including a strong track record of managing high-value key accounts, handling significant contract values, and consistently achieving or exceeding revenue and profit targets within a competitive environment
- Exhibit advanced expertise in consultative sales methodologies, applying a client-focused approach to understand business needs, marketing objectives, and industry challenges, and translating these insights into tailored sponsorship and exhibition solutions
- Possess strong technical capability in account management, client relationship management, stakeholder management, and pipeline development, with the ability to manage multiple accounts, priorities, and stakeholders simultaneously across the full sales cycle and event lifecycle
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of market research, industry trend analysis, and competitor monitoring to identify new business opportunities, support strategic decision-making, and enhance sales effectiveness within the exhibitions and events sector
- Demonstrate proficiency in revenue generation strategies including upselling, cross-selling, renewals, and new business development, along with experience in proposal development, contract management, and delivering customized partnership agreements
- Show capability in coordinating with event operations, including onsite event support, liaising with exhibitors and sponsors, ensuring contractual delivery, and resolving client issues efficiently during live event environments
- Operate effectively within cross-functional teams by collaborating closely with content, marketing, operations, and sales departments, contributing insights, aligning strategies, and supporting overall event delivery and client satisfaction
- Exhibit leadership potential by mentoring junior team members, contributing to team initiatives, taking ownership of additional responsibilities, and performing effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment within the exhibitions and events industry
