Job description
The Data Scientist role within QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey focuses on using data creatively to solve complex business challenges and uncover new and transformative opportunities for clients. Based in the Cairo office, the role involves developing advanced analytics models to optimize underlying business problems and applying state-of-the-art advanced analytics, quantitative tools, and modeling techniques to interpret data, make inferences, and provide actionable recommendations. The position contributes to shaping data-driven organizations by driving processes for extracting, manipulating, reporting, and disseminating broad sets of data, and by creating new analytical approaches across a wide range of client contexts. The role includes applying and advising on advanced analytic and quantitative tools to derive business insights, solve complex business problems, and improve decision-making. The Data Scientist reviews, supports, and advises on the day-to-day analytics requirements of clientsâ key operational processes while continuously improving their impact. The role is part of QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey, a team that combines the latest analytical techniques with deep understanding of industry dynamics and corporate functions to help clients create value from data, operating across industries including High Tech and within Technology capabilities.

- Develop advanced analytics models to optimize complex business problems and drive data-driven decision-making
- Apply state-of-the-art advanced analytics, quantitative tools, and modeling techniques to interpret data and generate actionable insights
- Extract, manipulate, analyze, and report on large and diverse data sets to support transformative business strategies
- Advise clients on the use of advanced analytic and quantitative tools to improve decisions and solve complex business challenges
- Support and review day-to-day analytics requirements related to clientsâ key operational processes
- Collaborate with consultants, clients, and QuantumBlack colleagues to deliver analytics-driven solutions
- Contribute to building data-driven organizational capabilities and innovative analytical approaches across client engagements
Experience & skills
- Hold an undergraduate degree in mathematics, statistics, physics, or engineering, with a masterâs degree considered an advantage
- Possess a minimum of 3+ years of professional programming experience, preferably applied to solving business problems
- Demonstrate experience in programming with a focus on machine learning using Python
- Show knowledge or exposure to analytics and programming tools including SPSS, SAS, Ruby, and Hadoop
- Demonstrate hands-on experience in data treatment and data mining using SQL, AWK, Microsoft Access, Apache Spark, and Microsoft Excel
- Exhibit demonstrated aptitude for analytics with applied statistical knowledge
- Provide evidence of leadership experience in a professional or extracurricular setting
- Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels
- Exhibit the ability to communicate complex analytical concepts clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with fluency in local office language(s) considered a plus
