Job description
The PDM Technician is responsible for executing and overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance tasks under the direction of the Foreman or General Foreman. This role involves interpreting technical drawings and maintenance manuals, preparing work sites, and performing carpentry, mechanical, or structural repairs as needed to fulfill contract obligations. You will ensure all tasks are completed safely, on time, and according to quality standards. Additionally, you will support junior craftsmen by providing guidance, reassigning delegated tasks, and maintaining accurate maintenance logs and tool inventories. Regular housekeeping, site cleanup, and compliance with safety regulations are integral to this role.

Key responsibilities
- Read and interpret work orders, schematics, and maintenance manuals to plan and execute tasks
- Prepare and set up work sites, including moving materials and equipment to designated locations
- Perform preventive maintenance on structures and equipment to prevent breakdowns
- Carry out corrective maintenance tasks for carpentry, mechanical, or structural repairs
- Provide leadership and instruction to junior craftsmen, reassigning delegated tasks as needed
- Maintain and calibrate tools and equipment, ensuring readiness and safety
- Complete detailed maintenance logs, reports, and records for all work performed
- Conduct site cleanup and housekeeping activities to maintain a safe working environment
- Observe and enforce safety rules and use required personal protective equipment at all times
- Assist in the identification of materials and parts required for maintenance tasks
- Support Foreman in smaller projects with Carpentry Foreman responsibilities when assigned
- Perform additional duties and tasks as directed by supervisor or Foreman
Experience & skills
- Minimum 5 years of relevant maintenance experience
- CAT II certification
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience
- Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance procedures
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
- Familiarity with safety regulations and use of personal protective equipment
