The Senior Engineer, Projects role within ADNOC Drilling in the oil and gas drilling and petrochemical industry is responsible for planning, reviewing, executing, controlling, and closing out engineering projects across drilling fleets, ensuring delivery within schedule, budget, and specified technical requirements. The role involves developing project execution plans and master schedules, coordinating budget estimation, and managing all project documentation including correspondences, transmittals, and drawings. The position requires strong involvement in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and HSE compliance in accordance with ADNOC COPs, ensuring full implementation of approved HSE plans and alignment with asset integrity management codes of practice. The engineer coordinates value engineering, constructability reviews, and project workshops, conducts technical bid evaluations, responds to technical queries, and supports tendering and EPC contract awarding processes. Responsibilities include supervising EPC and construction activities, reviewing contractor submissions and invoices, conducting site visits, and monitoring project schedule, cost, and performance. The role also covers contract administration, including claims evaluation, issuing acceptance certificates, managing defects liability periods, and ensuring proper project close-out documentation. The engineer participates in FAT, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities, ensures proper handover to operations, and contributes to lessons learned reviews. Additionally, the role includes implementing policies, procedures, and ISO standards, supporting performance management, innovation, and continuous improvement, maintaining HSE culture and sustainability practices, and coordinating with internal stakeholders, contractors, vendors, and regulatory authorities to ensure effective project delivery and compliance with UAE regulations.

Key responsibilities
- Plan, review, execute, control, and close out engineering projects within ADNOC Drilling fleets by developing project execution plans, defining master schedules, and ensuring alignment with technical specifications, cost constraints, and project timelines
- Develop project strategy and coordinate budget estimation activities by validating cost inputs, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring projects are delivered in a cost-effective manner while maintaining financial control and reporting variances
- Manage project documentation and communication by controlling documents, correspondences, transmittals, and drawings to ensure accuracy, traceability, and compliance with project and contractual requirements
- Coordinate and enforce Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and HSE compliance in line with ADNOC COPs by implementing approved HSE plans, ensuring adherence to asset integrity management codes, and promoting safety culture across all project phases
- Conduct value engineering and constructability reviews by organizing project workshops, evaluating design alternatives, and optimizing project execution to improve efficiency and reduce risks
- Perform technical bid evaluations by reviewing contractor submissions, responding to technical queries, and providing recommendations for tendering and awarding EPC contracts
- Supervise EPC and construction activities by managing contractors, reviewing submissions and invoices, conducting site visits, monitoring progress, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and schedules
- Control and monitor project performance by tracking schedule, budget, and deliverables, identifying delays or risks, and implementing corrective actions to ensure timely completion
- Administer contracts by evaluating contractor claims, negotiating outcomes, issuing provisional and final acceptance certificates, and ensuring proper contract close-out including documentation transfer and reporting
- Coordinate commissioning activities by attending FAT, pre-commissioning, and commissioning processes, managing punch-list items, and ensuring smooth handover of facilities to operations for start-up
- Ensure continuous improvement by participating in project reviews, identifying lessons learned, tracking warranties and defects liability periods, raising NCRs, and coordinating corrective actions with EPC contractors
- Support organizational objectives by implementing policies, systems, ISO standards, and procedures, contributing to performance management, preparing MIS reports, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders including procurement, drilling operations, contractors, and regulatory authorities
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelor Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent to support technical expertise in engineering projects within oil and gas and petrochemical environments
- Demonstrate a minimum of 8 years of broad experience in project management within the oil or petrochemical industry, including exposure to EPC projects, construction supervision, and commissioning activities
- Possess strong knowledge of project management practices including project execution planning, scheduling, budgeting, and performance monitoring using project management software tools
- Exhibit proficiency in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and HSE compliance, including knowledge of ADNOC COPs, asset integrity management codes, and international standards such as ISO standards
- Demonstrate experience in contract administration including tendering processes, technical bid evaluation, contractor management, claims evaluation, and contract close-out procedures
- Show capability to coordinate and manage EPC and construction activities, including site supervision, contractor engagement, and monitoring of project deliverables and timelines
- Possess experience in commissioning processes including FAT, pre-commissioning, and final commissioning, ensuring readiness for operational handover
- Exhibit strong communication skills in spoken and written English, enabling effective coordination with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and regulatory authorities
- Demonstrate computer literacy with preference for experience in project management software and document control systems
- Ensure knowledge of UAE regulations and compliance requirements, including adherence to legal, safety, and environmental standards within the oil and gas industry
