Job description
The SSE Engineer II provides engineering solutions as part of a Subsea Systems Engineering (SSE) project taskforce within the oil and gas industry, operating in accordance with TechnipFMC standards, procedures, processes, schedules, budgets, and HSE requirements. The role delivers technically correct and optimized engineering solutions while maintaining continuous focus on quality, targets, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include providing technical support to internal and external customers for ongoing projects and field operations, performing original design and layout work for new or modified products, and applying engineering theory, mathematics, and practical mechanics to solve complex design and operational problems. The position involves writing and issuing technical specifications and reports, supervising junior engineers by checking calculations and design solutions, interfacing with other engineering disciplines and project functions such as procurement and planning, and acting as a technical point of contact for customers. The SSE Engineer II prepares, reviews, and approves engineering calculations, procedures, and work instructions for mobilization, demobilization, maintenance, refurbishment, and repair activities. The role includes conducting design reviews, managing engineering documentation through the ECN process, supporting quality and HSEQ activities including RCA, HAZOP, and risk assessments, resolving technical issues through the EFNCR system, and participating in System Integration Tests (SITs). The engineer may be deployed on-site for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of new products, while ensuring compliance with TechnipFMC engineering, quality, environment, health, and safety policies. The position is office-based and onshore in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, within a global energy engineering organization.

Key responsibilities
- Perform technically correct and optimized engineering analysis in accordance with TechnipFMC standards, schedules, processes, and HSE requirements
- Provide technical assistance within projects and at manufacturing, fabrication, and installation sites
- Write and issue technical specifications and engineering reports related to assigned project activities
- Supervise junior engineering personnel by reviewing calculations, design concepts, and engineering solutions
- Develop and work on project and manufacturing design bases
- Interface with other engineering disciplines and project functions including procurement and planning
- Act as technical point of contact for internal and external customers on ongoing projects and field operations
- Apply analytical and problem-solving skills to provide real-time technical support for offshore and onshore issues
- Create, check, and review TCE and engineering documentation through the ECN process
- Conduct and prepare design reviews and detailed engineering calculations
- Create, review, and approve procedures and work instructions for mobilization, demobilization, maintenance, refurbishment, and repair
- Ensure on-time project delivery with required productivity, quality, and safety standards and report project status
- Support technical negotiations with clients and suppliers
- Lead design staff on a project basis in analyzing alternatives and preparing layouts aligned to customer needs
- Support refurbishment and remanufacture activities and approve technical concessions or deviations
- Perform dispositions of Quality Notifications and resolve issues via the EFNCR system
- Provide HSEQ support including RCA, HAZOP, and risk assessments
- Prepare for and attend System Integration Tests (SITs)
- Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities at site locations
- Transfer knowledge and best practices across service locations and regional engineering groups
Experience & skills
- Hold a BS degree in Engineering or equivalent with 2 to 4 years of relevant engineering experience
- Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in the oil and gas industry as a Design Engineer, System Engineer, Project Engineer, or related engineering role
- Demonstrate strong engineering knowledge and experience in technical support and design activities
- Have experience supervising or supporting junior engineers within a project team
- Be fluent in English with Arabic language skills preferred
- Demonstrate ability to apply engineering theory, mathematics, and practical mechanics to solve design and operational problems
