Job description
Cognizant, a Fortune 500, S&P 500 and NASDAQ-100 member headquartered in Teaneck, New Jersey with 340,000+ employees as of January 2025, seeks a dynamic, business-minded Product Owner to lead the Airways AI Squad and develop, deploy, and scale in-house AI use cases across the organization. Operating within Cognizant Consulting, the role owns the vision, roadmap, and backlog for AI products that deliver measurable value to customers, employees, and the business, aligning initiatives with client strategic objectives in passenger experience, operational efficiency, and sustainability. The Product Owner translates business needs into clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria; partners with data scientists, engineers, and designers to deliver high-quality AI features; engages stakeholders across commercial, operations, customer experience, and IT to identify and validate AI use cases; manages end-to-end product lifecycle from ideation and prototyping through deployment and scaling; sets KPIs and success measures to track performance and value; promotes responsible AI through ethical, transparent, and compliant practices; and monitors emerging AI trends to shape client AI product strategy.

Key responsibilities
- Own and communicate the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for the Airways AI Squad, prioritizing initiatives with highest business impact
- Translate business needs into detailed product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for AI features and products
- Collaborate closely with data scientists, engineers, and designers to deliver high-quality AI solutions on schedule
- Engage stakeholders across commercial, operations, customer experience, and IT to identify, validate, and refine AI use cases
- Drive the end-to-end product lifecycle from ideation and prototyping to deployment, adoption, and scaling
- Ensure alignment of AI solutions with strategic objectives in passenger experience, operational efficiency, and sustainability
- Act as the voice of the business in agile ceremonies, making prioritization decisions and removing blockers
- Establish KPIs and success metrics; monitor and report product performance and value delivery
- Promote responsible AI by enforcing ethical, transparent, and compliant practices throughout the product lifecycle
- Stay current on emerging AI trends and contribute to shaping the client’s AI product strategy
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (Master’s preferred)
- Bring 7+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role in technology/digital product development
- Demonstrate proven experience working on AI/ML initiatives in enterprise or customer-facing settings
- Show strong understanding of agile methodologies with hands-on backlog management experience
- Exhibit excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
- Balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery in fast-paced, cross-functional environments
- Possess familiarity with cloud platforms, data pipelines, and MLOps practices (plus)
- Offer background in aviation, travel, or related industries (advantage)
- Demonstrate passion for innovation, problem-solving, and delivering business value through AI
