Job description
The Assistant Manager â FCC & AML Advisory role at Grant Thornton UAE supports client engagements to assess and enhance Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) systems and controls. You will assist the Engagement Manager under the oversight of the Engagement Partner/Director, delivering assurance or independent FCC program assessments, internal audits, gap analyses, agreedâupon procedures (AUPs) and thirdâparty validation/monitorships. In addition you will support AML program uplift including FCC risk assessments, Risk Appetite Statement development, transaction monitoring typology assessments, customer risk assessment models and policy/procedure design. You will also support project management activities such as progress tracking, billing, client updates, and engagement documentation, supervise junior team members, and contribute to business and practice development via proposals, marketing efforts and knowledge sharing. The role demands a robust understanding of FCC Frameworks, transaction monitoring and sanctions screening systems, regulatory requirements in UAE or international jurisdictions, project and stakeholder management, and business development acumen.

Key responsibilities
- Lead execution of smaller client engagements or support workstreams on medium/large scale projects in the FCC Advisory practice
- Perform AML Program Assessments, internal audits, gap analyses, Agreed Upon Procedures (AUPs) and participate in thirdâparty validations/monitorships
- Support development and execution of key elements of clientsâ FCC Programs such as risk assessments, Risk Appetite Statement, policies & procedures, transaction monitoring typology assessments and customer risk assessment models
- Support project management including planning, execution, client updates, progress tracking, billing and quality assurance
- Oversee project engagement formalities such as conflict checks, client acceptance and documentation
- Drive business development activities including preparing proposals, marketing efforts, thought leadership and participation in client pitches
- Supervise junior team members to ensure highâquality outputs and contribute to internal knowledge sharing
Experience & skills
- Have at least 5 yearsâ experience working in Financial Crime Advisory (Consulting) and/or in financial institutions (2nd Line of Defence with advisory responsibilities)
- Have very good practical understanding of key elements of a robust FCC Program
- Be familiar with financial crime systems such as transaction monitoring and sanctions screening
- Be proficient in drafting policies and procedures related to FCC
- Have familiarity with regulatory requirements and expectations for AML/CFT, CPF and sanctions in UAE or other key international jurisdictions (UK, EU, Singapore, Hong Kong)
- Demonstrate proven track record of leading the execution of small AML advisory projects and/or supporting key workstreams on larger scale projects
- Demonstrate strong project and stakeholder management skills
- Demonstrate strong business development skills with regard to proposal development and thought leadership
- Have excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English
